Kevin Spacey, who has been accused by multiple men of unwanted advances, harassment, and sexual assault, some of whom when they were underage, is set to make a cameo appearance in an Italian film.
He is being cast, as it happens, as a detective investigating false allegations of child sexual abuse.
It’s confusing enough that a man whose name one would have thought was now toxic in the entertainment industry has not only landed a new acting gig.
Why is it a role in which he is meant to be investigating the very crime of which he has been accused?
The role is for an Italian film, “L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio” (“The Man Who Drew God”) and is set to be directed and starred in by Franco Nero, who told ABC News he was thrilled to have Spacey, who had previously had a lengthy and venerable acting career, take part in the project.
“I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film,” he said. “I consider him a great actor and I can’t wait to start the movie.”
According to Filmitalia, the film portrays “the rise and fall of a blind artist who has the extraordinary gift of making true-to-life portraits just by listening to human voices.”
This blind artist was also supposedly falsely accused of sexually abusing children and Spacey, amazingly, is set to play a detective who investigates the allegations.
It is beyond disturbing to cast a man in this role who has been accused by 20 men of sexual abuse.
As The Daily Wire explains:
Not long after movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s downfall and the rise of the MeToo movement in 2017, Spacey drew scrutiny when “Star Trek” actor Anthony Rapp told Buzzfeed that a 26-year-old Spacey had drunkenly forced himself on him at a party when he just was 14.
“I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago,” Spacey said in response to Rapp’s allegation. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”
Multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and assault from other men followed Rapp’s, both in the U.S. and the U.K., where Spacey worked at the Old Vic theater in London from 1995 to 2013.
The Daily Wire says that Spacey also appeared on the well-connected billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s notorious flight logs and was once photographed sitting on the British throne in Buckingham Palace with the woman accused of acting as a madame for Epstein’s underage sex trafficking scheme, Ghislaine Maxwell.
After initial accusations were raised against Spacey, it seemed obvious his career would never recover. He was dropped from the series “House of Cards,” edited out of “All the Money in the World” and reshot with another actor, and Netflix dropped the film “Gore,” which he had just completed in 2017 before accusations hit.
“Gore” was a biopic About author Gore Vidal, who was also accused of gay pedophilia.
Mark Ebenhoch, who says Spacey asked him to engage in a sexual act on the set of a film he was acting as a military advisor for, told TMZ the actor’s new role is “absurd.”
