Christian singer and “America’s Got Talent” star Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski passed away on February 19 at the age of 31.
Her family told “Today” in a statement that they were “devastated” by the loss.
“Those who knew her enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion — even if the joke was on her. Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she gave to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus,” they said.
“We thank everyone for their messages of love and support,” the bereaved family added.
In 2021, Nightbirde had a successful run on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent, wowing typically stony judge Simon Cowell who gave her the Golden Buzzer.
She was, however, forced to drop out to focus on her health after a previous breast cancer diagnosis returned.
Nightbirde was commemorated by grieving fans and AGT personalities as the tributes poured in.
“@_nightbirde was such a bright inspirational light in all our lives.we must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing I feel lucky to to have met, heard and known her,” Howie Mandel, a judge for the talent show, wrote on Twitter.
