Anne Graham Lotz, son of the late great evangelist Billy Graham, took to Facebook this week to request prayers for her son as he battles COVID-19 in the ICU.
Lotz, a formidable evangelist in her own right, wrote that she is having to trust the Lord with her son’s recovery.
“Fifty years ago I could hold my son in my arms. Now I have placed him in the arms of Jesus. He has been hospitalized with COVID and is in critical condition,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.
She pointed to verses from the night prior from her devotional the Daily Light, 1 Thessalonians 5:25 and James 5.16.
“’Pray for one another that you may be healed.’” I am asking you to please pray for Jonathans swift healing and recovery. For the glory of Gods great name,” she asked her followers.
On Sunday, she shared another post revealing that Johnathan was now in the ICU.
She said that the verse Genesis 41:52 had come to her mind when she read a text from her son that morning.
“I am physically exhausted yet Spiritually overflowing! I am continually pouring over the Psalms of Ascent (120-134) in ICU. I have had the privilege of sharing Jesus with the ER & ICU staff! What a Savior! God is so good!” her son reportedly wrote in a jubilant message.
“He is being fruitful in the land of his affliction,” Graham Lotz wrote.
“Please be encouraged that God is hearing and answering your prayers—just please don’t let up. Pray he will not have to go on a ventilator, that his oxygen levels would increase, that his lungs will be strengthened, healed and that his health will be fully restored—with no long term complications. My heart is filled with gratitude for your prayers.
Jonathan Lotz is himself a pastor and the founder of AnGeL Ministries in Raleigh. He and his mother are both cancer survivors; Anne Lotz credited God with healing her breast cancer in 2019.
We certainly join her in prayer for Jonathan’s swift healing, and praise the Lord for the works he is performing even while battling this threatening illness!
