Pennsylvania Teen Facing Attempted Murder Charge After Baby Left In Garbage For 12+ Hours

A Pennsylvania teen is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly leaving a baby girl inside a garbage bag.

According to WENY, the bag was left outside a home on Walnut Street and discovered by next-door neighbors who noticed the bag moving.

Karen Seals, one of the neighbors who discovered the infant, told WENY, “my sister came out off the porch and went to the side to the backyard of my neighbor’s house with a stick, thinking it was a dog.”

“We thought it was a dog, honey, and it wasn’t. It was a baby.”

The outlet quotes Karen as stating that when she and her sister removed the baby from the bag, the infant was not breathing.

“Her legs were just dangling in the bag, her head was in the bag, her whole head was covered all the way down,” WENY quotes Karen’s sister Kayla as stating.

At that point, the Seals reportedly rushed the baby into their home and were able to resuscitate her.

Authorities subsequently arrived and transported the baby to hospital, where she is currently recovering in stable condition; nothing short of a miracle, considering authorities believe the baby was left outside for more than 12 hours.

According to WENY, police have arrested 17-year-old Harriette M. Hoyt in connection with the incident.

In a release, the Elmira Police Department states that the charges levelled against Hoyt constitute a class B felony offence and she will be held at the Chemung County Jail amid an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Please take a moment to pray for not only the infant in this matter but Harriette M. Hoyt as well.

As heinous and disgusting as her alleged actions were, we need to remember that only God can judge and He can turn lives around for the better. He knows her heart and her situation; ask Him to soften the former and show her the path to a more positive future.
