Australian Man Who Wants to Be a Woman Also Wants to Play Soccer…As a Woman

Ok, so this is confusing. Try to keep up. Why is life this confusing now? We do not know. But it’s a mess, especially when you combine transgenderism, the word “football”, and the metric system. So bear with me.

Here’s the deal: an Australian man, who was born a man, would like to be a woman. He calls himself Hannah Mouncey and is currently awaiting a ruling from the Australian Football League (quick reminder for our American friends: football = soccer) as to whether or not he will be allowed to play.

In the women’s league.

This is where it gets confusing: he is actually a former member of the Australian men’s handball team. Different sport, different gender, I guess. As a player for the Austrailian men’s handball team, according to, he just missed out on qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Based on some quick calculations, that would mean “Hannah” has only been living as a woman for a maximum of three years, absolute tops.

Anyway, so now he wants to play football/soccer, and he wants to do it as a woman.

Despite the fact that he is a man.

The 27-year-old has already been allowed to play in the Ainslie Football Club women’s league, which is a semi-professional football league in Australia, so many argue that this should allow him to qualify for the Austrailian Football League women’s division.

“Mouncey plays in the ruck and stands at 190cm whilst weighing 100kgs,” reports.

For those of you not familiar with the metric system, this means this man is 6’2″ and weighs 220 pounds.

How many women do you know who are this size??

“The AFL follows International Olympic Committee regulations which state an athlete must prove their testosterone level is below 10 nanomoles per litre, a requirement which Mouncey comfortably meets,” explains.

Oh, well, that changes everything. He will now magically not tower over all the women and exceed their weight by at least 50 pounds.

“I know I’m different and not necessarily in a good way or bad way, but I know I am going to be seen differently,” Mouncey says, according to the Brisbane Times.

Um, being considerably larger than the women you’re playing against might be considered “bad” but whatever, dude.

He doesn’t seem to think so:

“People have said ‘With how big you are you’ll probably hold back a bit so you don’t hurt anyone’ and I’m like ‘Well no, I’m not going to hold back, that defeats the whole purpose’.

“I had my ribs broken in my last game so I know they can hit me as hard as I can hit them and do damage” he continues. “It is different and I know it is seen differently but I won’t approach it any differently.”

How long are we going to keep pretending this is normal? How long are we going to deny basic biology because feelings? This dude is a dude. Maybe he can dress up like a woman, go to liberal nightclubs or get hired by someone who wants points for political correctness, but does he really have to stop all over women’s sports for the sake of being included? He can’t just suck it up and deal with it that maybe one of the downsides of not being a biological woman is not getting to play in women’s sports?

Men and women’s sports are separate for many good reasons, and even if he didn’t pose a larger threat to the female players than a biological woman would, his size, strength, and agility certainly give him an unfair advantage.

Remember when women’s sports were all about female empowerment? How anti-feminist is it to allow men to encroach on this space? It’s all insanity.

We are whizzing down a very slippery slope and it is hard to believe we are not going to end up in a dogpile of absolutely chaos by the time we hit the bottom.
