In yet another death blow to four years’ worth of work to restore law and order to America under the Trump administration, President Joe Biden has reportedly issued a sweeping directive targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Not only did he sign a staggering 17 executive orders, Biden’s very first day in office included a directive issued by the Department of Homeland Security calling for a 100-day halt in deportations and the release of illegal aliens.
According to Fox News, the internal ICE memo sent on January 21 orders agents to “stop all removals,” including land and air deportations.
“As of midnight tonight, stop all removals,” the email reads, as reported by Fox’s Tucker Carlson and confirmed by Breitbart. “This includes Mexican bus runs, charter flights and commercial removals (until further notice) … all cases are to be considered [no significant likelihood of removal in foreseeable future].”
“Release them all, immediately,” the email goes on. “No sponsor available is not acceptable any longer.” Individuals are typically held in ICE custody if they do not have a sponsor in the United States—or they were until this memo went out.
Breitbart notes that it is still unclear if ICE is currently carrying out the mass release of all 14,195 detainees in its custody across 138 facilities, 71.45 percent of whom are convicted criminals or have pending criminal charges.
ICE has, in fact, halted all deportations, regardless of the criminal convictions of an illegal alien, as a result of Biden’s executive order.
Breitbart reports that ICE officials did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.
Carlson notes that the official who sent the email said that he was just “the messenger.”
“In other words, It wasn’t his idea,” said Carlson on an edition of Tucker Carlson Tonight last week. “It was Joe Biden’s.”
“Now, this email was news to us,” Carlson went on. “The memorandum from the Biden administration to halt deportations did not call for people here illegally to be released from detention. So we made some calls, and we learned that the Department of Homeland Security is currently hammering out how to enact the memorandum. It does not specifically call for the instant release of all migrants in detention.”
“So what was this memo about?” Carlson asked. “Just the result of the complete chaos that resulted when the incoming administration changed a policy this big on its first day without explaining what it means.”
“Chaos is the predictable result. We thought the last administration had a monopoly on that chaos,” Carlson concluded. “Apparently not.”
