Biden Transition Chief for Gov’t Media Has Called for Law Recognizing “All Speech Is Not Equal”

We here at Elizabeth Johnston Ministries have in no way resolved to accept the results of an election that is being challenged by numerous lawsuits and recount requests across the nation.

And, as we learn more about what a Joe Biden presidency would really look like, as the media and his campaign continue to work hard to sell the former Vice President as our new president-elect, it becomes all the more important to demand the integrity of our election process is firmly assured in every key electoral state before we accept defeat.

The people that the career politician has surrounded himself with for his transition, which is most certainly already taking place, contested election or no, do not bode well for anyone interested in preserving free speech.

LifeSiteNews reports that Richard Stengel has been picked as Biden’s transition chief for government-owned media entities, a man who has called for federal laws that would recognize that “all speech is not equal.”

If this doesn’t give you goosebumps as a free American, I don’t know what will.

According to the Biden transition website, Stengel is identified as being in charge of a team committed to reflecting “the values and priorities of the incoming administration” to transition the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) from President Donald Trump’s hands.

USAGM oversees Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Asia, Middle-East Broadcasting Networks, and the Open Technology Fund.

Stengel served as an official in the Obama administration and as the head of the National Constitution Center. The latter seems a rather ironic post, considering he called for a federal “hate speech” law in October of 2019.

In a Washington Post op-ed, the journalist claimed American-style free speech had a “design flaw” by protecting “hateful speech that can cause violence by one group against another…seems like a design flaw.”

Right, because in nations without our republic’s unique protections for this sacred natural law, people never rile each other up to commit acts of violence against others.

Someone’s vastly ignorant of global current events and human history as a whole.

Stengel argued that it was “time to consider” reforming our laws to more closely resemble those passed in other nations since World War II meant  to “curb the incitement of racial and religious hatred,” and that defined “hate speech” as “speech that attacks and insults people on the basis of race, religion, ethnic origin and sexual orientation.”

“All speech is not equal,” Stengel declared, showing that ironic fundamental misunderstanding of the U.S. Constitution. “And where truth cannot drive out lies, we must add new guardrails. I’m all for protecting ‘thought that we hate,’ but not speech that incites hate.”

And this guy could potentially be in charge of literal state-run media.

LifeSiteNews also notes:

Several Biden picks have shed light on what a Biden administration would look like recently, from prospective White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, who has declared himself a “soldier” for abortion-on-demand, to coronavirus strategy advisor Michael Osterholm, who claimed America “could lock down for four to six weeks” to “drive the numbers down,” during which the federal government “could pay for a package right now to cover all of the lost wages for individual workers.”

Are you paying attention yet?

Whatever gains First Amendment activists gained under President Donald Trump, we can certainly kiss them goodbye should Biden be confirmed as the winner of the election and inaugurated. But worse, however, we could see more severe and unconstitutional attacks on our liberty than we even imagined.
