Boston U Professor Urged To Resign After Comparing Amy Coney Barrett to “Colonizers” For Adopting Children From Haiti

A Boston University professor slammed President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett as a “white colonizer” who uses her children, adopted from Haiti, as “props.”

“Some White colonizers ‘adopted’ Black children,” tweeted Ibram X. Kendi on Saturday, according to the New York Post. “They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”

Kendi, author of the New York Times bestseller “How to Be an Antiracist,” was responding to a now-deleted tweet showing a woman who was identified after the fact as Barrett’s sister, Carrie, holding two children, according to the Daily Mail.

It was later revealed that the children in the photo were not Barrett’s, although she did in fact adopt a son and daughter born in Haiti.

Regardless, Kendi, director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, defended his rant, arguing that “whether this is Barrett or not is not the point.”

“It is a belief too many White people have: if they have or adopt a child of color, then they can’t be racist,” he said.

It’s not clear why Kendi felt the need to bring up Coney Barrett’s children in the first place. Thankfully, many were ready to take him to task for his words.

“I want to know what these people think Amy Coney Barrett’s sinister motive would be to adopt kids from Haiti,” wrote conservative journalist Jonah Goldberg of the Dispatch. “I mean spell it out. Even if you’re against interracial adoption, what makes you think she’s evil for doing it? I mean come on.”

“Dems have descended to new low,” conservative talk show host Trish Regan wrote. “A dem strategist is actually attacking #AmyConeyBarrett by suggesting something sinister in the adoption of her children from Haiti. Wow. America should never forget this.”

“List of Bad Things About Amy Coney Barrett: 1. She’s a devout Catholic 2. Two of her children were adopted from Haiti,” DC Examiner writer Kimberly Ross satirically revealed. “The MONSTER.”

Ibram’s comments prompted many to call for his removal from Boston University, although the Post reported that the school did not immediately respond to a phone and email request for comment.

“#IbramKendi paints whites with a broad racist brush, even when there are no facts to support his claim,” Holly Mathis wrote. “#BostonUniversty supports a virulent black racist professor. #EnoughIsEnough.”

“Boston University professor should be dismissed for calling Amy Coney Barrett a ‘white colonizer’ who is using her two adopted Haitian children as ‘props,’” Breach of Trust tweeted. “The ones who claim to be oppressed are proving to be the most oppressive, hate-filled humans.”
