The government of California launched a $1 million website last week to provide information on obtaining abortion in the state, including for minors, undocumented immigrants, and out-of-state visitors.

Included in the information for abortion-seeking women considering travel to California is the assurance that teenagers do not need parental consent to undergo abortion in the state.

In a press release, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who has vowed to create abortion sanctuary in the Golden State, told the public that “Abortion is legal, safe, and accessible here in California — whether or not you live here, know that we have your back,” as CBN News reported.

“Abortion is legal and protected in California,” the website’s header reads.

“Abortion remains safe, legal, and accessible in California, whether or not you live in the state,” the subtitle explains, “This website has current and accurate information about how you can access abortion services in California.”

The homepage also features another quote from Newsom stating, “I want people to know all around the rest of the country and many parts of the globe, that I hope we’re your antidote to your fear, your anxiety.”

Towards the bottom of the homepage, several helpful tabs direct visitors to information sections for people who live out of state, immigrants and undocumented visitors, and those under 18.

The page for minors ensures visitors that “In California, people of any age have the right to independently consent to their own abortion care.”

There are also links to more information about teen abortion rights, including foster children and obtaining legal assistance and financial assistance for abortion.

“While providers may refuse to give you abortion services based on their personal beliefs, they do not have the legal right to impose their beliefs on you or prevent you from getting an abortion,” the page also states, before providing a link to an abortion provider finder tool.

This year, Newsom and California Democrats, many of whom are recipients of generous donations from Planned Parenthood, has worked to establish the state as an “abortion sanctuary” as other states have moved to ban abortion the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.

The governor has taken out billboard space in a number of red states where abortion is banned or restricted advertising California as an abortion destination, using his reelection campaign funds to do so.

“The idea that these Republican politicians are seeking to ‘protect life’ is a total farce,” Newsom said in a statement. “They are seeking to restrict and control their constituents and take away their freedom.”
