Can You Believe What This High School Dance Team is Wearing? Outrageous!

A video has been circulating over the last few days of a group of Miami high school dance team dressed in sexually-suggestive lingerie-like outfits and gyrating their hips in unison as they walk out onto a football field for a performance.

The video, originally found by the Daily Mail on FlyHeight, features a team of wchat had been assumed were cheerleaders arriving at a football game and walking in a line out onto the field. Their outfits consist of underwear-length shorts, garters, and hose, which are very reminiscent of lingerie, and their dance is far from demure.

You can view the video here, although be warned it is not appropriate for small children as it is highly sexually suggestive:

A local Fox affiliate was able to contact the school that the dance team belonged to (they were apparently not the cheerleading team), Miami Northwest High School. They interviewed a few parents, some of whom felt the outfits were completely inappropriate, and others who saw no problem with it.

“I’m old-fashioned, well, I believe it’s too sexy. You got a lot of bad people out there that would look at that and take it a different way, you see?” said father Jerry Byrd. “I got two daughters I deal with and I won’t allow that.”

Another parent, Runette Brown, felt differently. “It doesn’t bother me any. I don’t see anything wrong with it. They’re dancers. Right. I could see if cheerleaders were in it, then that would be different, but they’re dancers.”

Why would it be different for a school program to sexualize young girls if they were cheerleaders?

The school’s statement on the matter is perhaps most concerning of all, confirming that the girls’ parents approved of the outfits:

“Miami Northwestern Senior High School has always been a source of pride for students, parents, alumni and the community. We will continue that tradition. While all the parents of the dancers who participated in the event approved of the attire, we understand the concerns that have been raised and sincerely apologize for any offense this may have caused. Looking ahead, we will implement a more comprehensive and stringent uniform approval process to ensure an appropriate representation of our school.”

The only reason these girls think this is OK is that there are adults in their lives telling them it is OK. Stop. Sexualizing. Children.

Parents have been deceived into thinking there is nothing wrong with young girls dressing like grown “professional” women and gyrating around, and with this dramatic change in society, teen pregnancy rates, not to mention abortion rates, suicide rates, drug use, STDs, and crime have risen as well.

It is absolutely time for our culture to start protecting the virtue of its young women and teach them the difference between right and wrong–before it is too late!

Stop sexualizing children and #LetKidsBeKids!
