As soon as the reality set in that President Donald Trump would not hold a second term in office, many hopeful conservatives began looking ahead to 2024, wondering who the Republican party might come up with to challenge Joe Biden.
In a continuation of the trend set by Trump of conservative voices who aren’t career politicians and simply have great, common-sense, country-saving ideas, Candace Owens has floated the idea of running for president.
In a Saturday tweet that garnered over 250,000 likes, the conservative commentator said, “I love America. Thinking about running for President.”

In a prediction that it would not “age well,” Owens followed up with a response to a tweet declaring that “an authoritarian white nationalist party” would never have her for a candidate.

Although Owens is a prolific commentator on politics, she has thus far only proposed one plan she’d enact as president back in 2019.
“If I were President, the punishment for burning the U.S flag would be the renunciation of citizenship,” she tweeted at the time. “No jail time, no fine— simply one year to liquidate your assets and get the hell out of our country. In exchange, we’d extend citizenship to a hardworking LEGAL immigrant.”

Back in November, Owens hinted that she was considering a bid for the White House as President Trump’s “successor.”
“2024 is a long way off… Maybe I’ll run as his successor,” she pondered.

Hordes of Twitter followers were thrilled with Owens’ consideration of the presidency, including one who declared she would have his vote “100.”
“You have my vote 100% not because you’re a woman, not because you’re black!” declared Kyle J. Maxwell. “Not even because you’re republican or conservative! Because I firmly agree with your viewpoints & they align with mine, and I genuinely believe you have the best interest for this nation.”

On the issue of ethnicity and the presidency, Owens has gone to bat against former President Barack Obama over a claim in his memoir that President Trump’s stellar 2016 victory was driven by “millions of Americans” who were “spooked by a Black man in the White House.”
Owens, according to Fox News, said Obama had it completely backwards.
“It felt like we finally had arrived at a place in this country where we could put the past in the past,” she said. “Barack Obama became the president of the United States because White Americans supported him. And rather than show some unity, rather than show some respect for this country that gave him literally everything he has, he turns his back … and says, ‘Look at this despicable country. It’s broken.’”
“He is the first president that has ever sat in the White House and come out … hating America,” she declared.
