Capitol Police are reportedly investigating an incident that took place outside a South Bend, Indiana abortion clinic when U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN) was nearly run down by a Dodge Challenger as the lawmaker and other pro-life activists prayed for the lives inside the facility.

REAL News Michiana initially reported on the incident and obtained security footage of the moment the vehicle nearly ran down the Indiana representative.

The outlet identified the culprit who drove towards Walorski and another man at a high speed before slamming on the breaks at the last minute outside the Whole Woman’s Health clinic on May 15th as an “Antifa member.”

“Walorski visited the area outside of the Whole Woman’s Health abortion clinic to pray with pro-life activists on Saturday, May 15th. In the video, you can see a black Dodge Charger driving through at a high rate of speed as Walorski, who is wearing yellow, starts walking away from a crowd. The driver slams on his brakes before nearly hitting Representative Walorski and another man,” the website reported.

RNM claims to have identified a man they believe to have been behind the attack who works as an “escort” at the facility and has had violent confrontations with pro-life activists previously.

Walorski’s office said in a statement that the Capitol Police will be investigating.

“On Saturday, May 15th, I joined a group of pro-life Hoosiers in prayer while they gathered peacefully near a South Bend abortion clinic. As I was leaving, a vehicle traveling quickly down Lincoln Way West swerved toward the group and came to an abrupt stop just a few feet away from me. Given the recent increase in threats against members of Congress, the U.S. Capitol Police are investigating this incident,” a statement from the congresswoman read.

“I stand with my fellow pro-life Hoosiers who work to defend the most vulnerable among us, the unborn. They will not be silenced or intimidated by threats or acts of violence from radical activists. As Americans, we can debate and disagree on fundamental issues, but it is absolutely unacceptable to endanger the lives of others.”

Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) condemned the attack on Twitter and expressed firm support for First Amendment rights and pro-life Americans.

“Conservatives will not be intimidated in expressing our right to free speech and in support of life!” the congressman wrote.
