At Activist Mommy, we have long been dedicating to holding the entertainment industry accountable for peddling godlessness and smut.
There was a time when films were held to a much higher standard, both in artistic quality and basic standards of decency.
We have things backward in this day and age. While cancel culture is raging against everything from breakfast foods to Gandhi, no one seems to bat an eye at the perverted and perverse if it doesn’t fit the agenda.
The upcoming film “Habit” is one such example.
The film will feature Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, as Jesus, and quite possibly as a lesbian also.
“Hollywood is set to release yet another outrageous and blasphemous movie featuring Jesus Christ. This time portraying Christ as a woman who engages in a myriad of inappropriate and salacious acts while also serving as the romantic foil for the main female character,” the petition reads.
As of this writing, it had garnered 239,285 signatures. They are aiming for 500,000.
E! Online describes Jackson’s role in the film:
In the very first look at the upcoming indie project, Paris’ gender-bending take on the religious figure includes a nose ring, tousled waves and a traditional robe.
A press release says Habit will follow a “street smart, party girl with a Jesus fetish [who] gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a Nun.”
Many reports have been circulating that the “party girl” character the film centers around, by some accounts actress Bella Thorne, will be a lesbian. Considering the description of the film says this character has a “Jesus fetish” and Jesus will be played by Jackson, it has perhaps been presumed that the character of Jesus will engage in lesbian acts.
While the claim that Jesus will be portrayed as a lesbian are not confirmed, it does not appear to have been refuted, either.
Jackson herself is an out bisexual.
The petition, which calls for the release to be halted, reads, in part:
This blasphemous content should not be tolerated. For Christians around the world who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, portraying him in this manner is deeply offensive. The Christian Film and Television Commission has been working in Hollywood for nearly 40 years. Through that time, we have had tremendous success partnering with the studios to not only release more faith-based content but also to represent millions of global Christians who make up a large part of these studio’s target audience! But with every success, there are new attacks on the faith. We are bringing public attention to this blasphemous film about Jesus. We need to work hard on dissuading any studio from distributing it!
This mischaracterization of Jesus needs to be addressed before it reaches susceptible young people! You can help us by adding your name to our petition!
Ted Baehr, the founder of Movieguide and the Christian Film & Television Commission, a nonprofit organization which aims to restore values to mass media, told The Christian Post in an interview last week that the film crosses a line “that should not be crossed” in its “blasphemous” portrayal of Jesus.
Hollywood would never be so bold with other religious figures, he argues.
“You wouldn’t dare tell the story of Muhammad being a lesbian, of Buddha being a lesbian. So this is very strange that people who came from the Christian background are doing something that’s going to be so offensive to Christians, and so destructive to the faith of young children whose faith is being destroyed every day,” he said. “You’re actively attacking Jesus.”
He also told CP that both Bella Thorne and Suzie Kaiser, one of the film’s writers, have stated they are Christians in the past, something he finds particularly strange considering the content of the film.
Please make sure to sign the petition and share it with your friends and family. The film industry is only able to get away with such smut in a culture where it is tolerated. It’s time to stop tolerating blasphemy and take a stand!
