Co-host of ‘The View’ Sunny Hostin took it upon herself this week to declare that God is less-concerned with abortion and is instead more concerned with saving the environment.
Hostin said Christians “get caught up on the abortion issue” and suggested some other issues take precedence over abortion “if you really are a follower of the Bible and a follower of Jesus Christ.”
Her comments were made in response to news that Democrats have been infighting over whether or not pro-life candidates should be formally supported by the national party.
“It’s time for Democrats to embrace,” Hostin said, “because if you really are looking at Jesus’ words, the most important things to him were justice and mercy, so real biblical sort of perspectives are saving the earth – welcoming strangers, taking care of the poor.”
Whoopi Goldberg chimed in too:
“Here’s the thing,” said Goldberg. “If you believe that abortion is morally wrong, then you never have to have one. The law doesn’t say you have to have an abortion. The law says if you feel you need to, we are not going to stand in your way. And that is how the law should read.”
Here’s the clip:
Hostin is a self-proclaimed pro-life Democrat but conceded during the segment she believes Roe v. Wade should be retained.
She went on to say that such Democrats as Tim Kaine and Joe Biden are good examples of the frame of mind that is “personally opposed but can’t tell others what to do.”
This is a common excuse by pro-choice abortion advocates, and it’s one that attempts to “wash hands” of another’s sin by saying “well, I’m against it, but it’s not my place to say.”
Life is one of the most—if not THE most—precious gift the Lord has given us. It’s written in the Constitution that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights. Are these not inalienable rights for unborn persons as well?
I believe it’s true there are many issues with modern society that rest heavily on the Lord’s heart—but abortion is surely one of them.
