The mainstream culture of our nation is quickly becoming one that favors the free speech of one group and systematically punishes the speech of others.
It is no secret that the LGBT community has, for far too long, bullied Christians and conservatives into quiet submission; rendering the expression of one’s personal adherence to biblical values as actual thoughtcrime.
Our Constitution establishes a framework for many groups of opposing perspectives to co-exist peacefully in the same republic with the shared understanding that the freedom to express one’s personal convictions and to practice their religion in peace are fundamentally important for everyone, not just one group.
But the LGBT community doesn’t care–they want their speech, as well as incredibly flamboyant and often vulgar expression to be protected while Christians who oppose their lifestyle must be punished and publicly shamed.
Now, private companies may do what they wish with their executives, and that’s fine. But the fact that a CrossFit higher-up recently expressed strong opposition to the way the LGBT community can harass and bully Christians simply for adhering to their beliefs got fired for expressing these views is beyond ironic, and also very indicative of the times we are living in.
Here’s the story: Russel Berger, the now-former Chief Knowledge Officer of the popular gym franchize CrossFit, was fired this week for his reaction to the backlashed experienced by an Indianapolis CrossFit gym that canceled a Pride-themed event at their facilities.
June is Pride Month.
“We believe that true health forever can only be found within humility, not pride,” the Indianapolis gym management had said.
Amen to that.
Berger agreed, and took to Twitter to express his support:
“As someone who personally believes celebrating “pride” is a sin, I’d like to personally encourage #CrossFitInfiltrate for standing by their convictions and refusing to host an @indypride workout. The intolerance of the LGBTQ ideology toward any alternative views ins mind-blowing,” he began.
“The tactics of some in the LGBTQ movement toward dissent is an existential threat to freedom of expression. The lack of tolerance for disagreement, which has been replaced with bullying Twitter mobs promising ‘consequences’, should be a concern regardless of your political stance.”
“That you #CrossFitInfiltrate for standing by your convictions and refusing to celebrate sin by hosting an @indypride workout. The intolerance of the LGBTQ ideology toward any alternative views ins mind-blowing,” he concluded.
Is this not one of the truest statements you’ve read in a long time?
It may have cost him his career, but Berger took a bold stand for the truth, and he ought to be commended.
