Delaware Mom Speaks Out About Draconian Law Allowing Children to Choose Gender and Race

The extent to which a proposed Delaware law undermines the authority of parents is almost unbelievable.

Regulation 225 has the character of many authoritarian dictatorships both in the past and present, and that is sadly not even an understatement.

In many countries like North Korea, communist China, the Soviet Union, as well as the fictional model of totalitarianism presented in George Orwell’s 1984, the status of parents is reduced to that as secondary to the state in the authoritative structure the nation’s children adhere to.

It is shocking that in a uniquely free and civil society like the United States, the “first state”, Delaware, would seriously considering a law allowing a school to go over the parent’s head and allow a child to chose their own gender or race without informing the parents if the school so chose.

This. Is. Tyranny.

Fox News reports:

Under Regulation 225, schools would be required to provide access to facilities and activities that are consistent with a student’s gender identity—regardless of the child’s sex at birth. That includes bathrooms, locker rooms, team sports and adhering to the child’s preferred name. Under the proposal, students could also choose their own race.

What has rankled some parents is that the new regulation does not require schools to inform parents of the child’s decision. Instead, the policy advises administrators to assess the child’s well-being before disclosing the information to the child’s parents.

While a growing number of states are imposing rules to protect transgender students, Delaware’s proposed rules go further – letting a child decide, even if the parent disagrees with the decision.

Fox says today that many local parents are, as one can imagine, quite concerned about the law, saying the government absolutely does not have the right to allow this kind of serious limitation on parental rights to take place.

“I would be livid if the school allowed my daughter to make such a significant decision without me,” said Terri Hodges, president of the Delaware PTA and committee member.

Hodges said she does not oppose the regulation but feels that alienating parents is not the right is not the right way to carry it out.

“I want to protect children,” she said, “but we can’t pick and choose when to engage parents.”

The state’s proposal drew more than 11,000 public comments in the form of letters, emails and online submissions— the majority opposing the new rule. (our emphasis)

This law absolutely cannot be allowed to pass if there is any decency or sense of liberty left in this country.

The Delaware Family Policy Council has been working tirelessly to make the public aware of this threat to parental liberty and stop Regulation 225. You can act now to KILL this awful proposal before a massive assault on liberty takes place. Please share with everyone you know, especially Delaware residents!
