Being pro-choice can really bring out the ugly in people. Back in April, Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims cowardly harassed a pro-life woman and her teenage girls as they were peacefully demonstrating and praying outside a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. Not only did he harass the ladies and hurl rude and disparaging comments at them, but he also tried to dox them by offering his social media followers $100 to identify them. This guy is the epitome of unhinged!
Now, six months later, he has decided to send an apology to the ladies, in private of course. Despite acknowledging to a group of LGBT activists back in May that he was “ashamed” over his behavior and “apologetic” it still took him half a year to admit that to his victims.
It is ironic that he had no problem for him to publicly humiliate and shame these brave pro-life women but when it comes to apologizing he acts like the coward that he truly is.
As an out gay man and someone who self-admittedly advocates for LGBT rights, “equality,” and “tolerance,” it sure is amazing how little any of that meant to Sims when it came to pro-life women exercising their First Amendment right.
“This weekend I received a card from State Representative Brian Sims apologizing for his actions toward my daughters and their friend on Holy Thursday,” Garecht said in a statement sent to The Daily Wire.
“Our family forgave Mr. Sims many months ago and we extend that forgiveness again now,” she said. “It is our sincere hope that Mr. Sims will modify his conduct in the future and that he will stand in defense of all citizens who exercise their First Amendment rights in the public square, including those who advocate for life outside of abortion facilities.”
“We take Mr. Sims at his word that ‘he has learned a great deal’ from the response to his filmed harassment and intimidation,” Garecht continued, “and so he now bears the responsibility of showing by his actions that dangerous and threatening behavior toward others he disagrees with has no place in our society.”
This is a very gracious response to Sims’ very overdue apology.
But what took him so long?
In April, Sims called these women “a bunch of pseudo-Christian protesters” as if only real Christians embrace the killing of unborn babies with open arms. In an effort to really show just how anti-Christian and pro-infanticide he really is, he then issued a call to action for his social media followers to donate $100 to Planned Parenthood saying, “I’m gonna do the same.”
“There’s nothing Christian at all about what you’re doing,” Sims barked at the pro-lifers. “Nothing Christian or loving or Godly at all about what you’re doing.” Aggressively harassing young, teenage girls is apparently loving though.
Garecht has asked for Mr. Sims “to make a public statement of contrition regarding his dangerous and unethical behavior as an act of integrity because in genuine peacemaking, the reconciliation should be as public as the offense.”
Sims certainly did the right thing in sending an apology, but it’s hard not to feel that the fact that it was done in private and also took six months for him to muster up the humility to do it takes away a bit from his sincerity. It feels like a shallow attempt to save face as a supposed “tolerant” liberal rather than a genuine, heartfelt apology and acknowledgment that his behavior was completely unacceptable, demeaning, and intolerant.
Hopefully, this will be the last we hear about Sims and his abortion crusades. Praise God for courageous women like Garecht who are willing to take a stand for innocent life even in the face of aggressive pro-abortion activists. We must also pray for Sims, that this is a truely repentant action which will lead to the far more significant realization that he actively supports the mass slaughter of innocent babies in the womb!
This is not the first time @briansimspa has harassed pro-life women.
Three weeks ago, Brian Sims offered viewers $100 to doxx these teen girls:
