Derick Dillard—reality star on the show “Counting On”, a spin-off of “19 Kids and Counting”—has come under fire after tweeting about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings.
Jennings is a young man who identifies as a transgender woman. Dillard tweeted, “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show that follows a non-reality.”
He continued by saying that transgender “is a myth.”
“Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by god.”
Here’s the tweet:
What an oxymoron… a "reality" show which follows a non-reality. "Transgender" is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God. https://t.co/YxzH5o5Ujx

Fans on Twitter lashed out at Dillard.
He issued a response:
I want to be clear. I have nothing against him. I only have issue with the words and definitions being propagated here.

Twitter users were irate:
You mean her. Use the right pronoun if you have no issue

If you are upset with TLC calling HER a HER than maybe you shouldn't be apart of the reality TV network that pays your bills. #UnfollowDerik

This logic is living entirely outside of reality. A science textbook would tell you that babies are born with either two X chromosomes or an X and a Y chromosome—and even many, many years worth of hormone therapies won’t change that one simple fact.
Dillard later tweeted a Bible verse that seems to perfectly address the issue:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5.
We shouldn't trust our own heart & mind.
