A Dunkin Donuts employee was accused this week of refusing service to two police officers. The worker said, “I don’t serve cops,” according to Fox News.
Detectives’ Endowment Association President Michael Palladino is calling for a boycott of the chain following the incident.
Palladino called the interaction “disgraceful.”

“I assume it is an isolated incident. Nevertheless, Dunkin’ Donuts corporate should issue an apology to the NYPD and until that happens, I have asked detectives and their families to refrain from patronizing the stores,” he said.
Palladino pointed the finger at the city’s political officials. He said they “encourage this type of behavior” by “constantly demonizing cops and pushing their decriminalization agenda.”
Palladino’s criticisms come just weeks after Mayor Bill De Blasio skipped a fallen NYPD police officer’s funeral ceremony to protest President Trump and the G20 Summit in Germany.
It’s time for the same politicians to step up, take some responsibility and condemn what occurred,” Palladino said.
A store manager at the Dunkin Donuts where the event occurred is disputing the interaction, saying the security tapes show the officers were waiting at the wrong counter.
“You can see on the security tape: they stand here for five minutes, while other customers were being served. One customer even ordered ice cream, and they must’ve not liked that because they left the store,” he told the Post.
The officers have said, however, that’s not what happened at all.
When they arrived at the counter, the employee initially tried to ignore them and take the order of the person behind them in line. When the officers told the clerk that they were there first, the employee responded, “Yeah, I know, but I don’t serve cops.”
The manager wouldn’t allow media to view the security footage that he cited in his dispute.

It should go without saying that our police officers, who put their lives on the line of duty every day in service to our communities, deserve the utmost respect in every scenario.
It’s clear these instances are the product of a culture that lacks appreciation for the sacrifices our public servants make on the line of duty.
As Christians, we should pray for an end to the hostile relationship between police officers and so many of the communities they work to protect, and for a stabilization of the violence that plagues these neighborhoods and takes so many lives each year.
