Equality Act Update: Bill Passes House Judiciary Committee, Threats To Women And Christians Increased

“Equality” has become a codeword for “fascism.”

The left doesn’t want true equality or a society in which all walks of life are afforded the same voice and protection under the law—they simply want their own agenda advanced and are eager to silence any dissenters.

If they had their way, this ravenous mob would snuff out the liberties of anyone who wishes to peacefully coexist in this nation while still upholding their personal convictions regarding issues like biology, marriage, and the sanctity of human life.

The so-called “Equality Act” puts them one step closer to realizing that goal.

The bill is showing no signs of slowing down after passing through the House Judiciary Committee and could be up for a vote as early as this week.

“Essentially, the Equality Act gives people of faith an ultimatum: Change your faith-based practices or face government punishment,” Sarah Kramer of Alliance Defending Freedom reports.

The bill, an amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act, would forbid sexual orientation and gender identity being considered as factors for employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit, and even jury duty.

ADF and a stack of other conservative and faith-based organizations have had this bill on their radar since its introduction, issuing stern warnings about the repercussions of preventing Christians from falling back on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to satisfy their convictions.

Not only does this insane bill threaten religious liberty in the public square, ADF contends that it also puts women at serious risk by removing any legal distinction between them and biological men who “identify” as women:

In Alaska, the city of Anchorage is using a similar law to force a women’s shelter to allow biological men who identify as women to sleep just three feet away from women who have experienced rape, sex trafficking, and domestic violence. The “Equality Act” would also open up shower facilities, restrooms, and locker rooms to members of the opposite sex in schools – as has already happened in Pennsylvania in the Boyertown Area School District.

In Decatur, Georgia, a young girl was sexually molested in her school restroom by a boy who was allowed in as a result of the type of policy that the “Equality Act” would force on the whole nation.

ADF also argued that the Equality Act would undermine the original purpose of Title IX, which was to “ensure equal opportunities for women in education.” The bill would allow biological male athletes to compete in women’s and girls’ athletic competitions nationwide, leading to the utter decimation of women’s sports as we know it.

“At a Connecticut state track meet, two biological males identifying as girls beat out the female competitors in several events, taking first and second place. In fact, these males have taken medals from girls in meet after meet,” ADF continued. “As one girl said, ‘Why even try?’ In Alaska, the same happened – a biological male competed as a girl at the state championship and won.”

Even some of the nation’s staunchest liberals are finding common ground with the bill’s conservative critics and, if only on this issue, joining forces.

Most notably, the bill has sparked a surprising partnership between the conservative Christian Concerned Women for America (CWA) and the radical feminist Women’s Liberation Front (WLF).

In a joint article by Penny Nance, CWA’s president and CEO, and WLF board chair Natasha Chart, the bill was rightfully skewered for its “insidious” threats to women:

“Legislative and policy ‘reforms’ proposed in this dangerous bill will lead to blatant violations of our safety, privacy, and dignity.  Under this bill, men and boys will take away women’s small business grants and hardwon spots on sports teams; they will be allowed to live in women’s domestic violence shelters and use our locker rooms. And united as women, we are just not going to stand for it.”

“Nothing in this bill outlines medical conditions, social processes, or steps that must be taken for an individual to be legally recognized as another sex,” Nance and Chart explained, noting the incredible ease with which a man can simply declare himself a woman and grant himself all manner of privileges.

“In fact, any conditions are seen as discriminatory. For a male who identifies as female, he doesn’t even have to change his name, the way he dresses, or see a doctor or counselor,” they continued. “If the Equality Act passes, he’ll also be able to sue you for violating his civil rights if you persist in seeing him for the man that he is.”

The temperature in Hell must be dipping because I couldn’t agree more with the Women’s Liberation Front on this one.

This bill must not make it out of the House or Senate alive. If it does, it will be open season on the women, children, and faith-based institutions of America.
