Former Facebook Exec, CNN Reporter Call for OANN, Newsmax to Be Blocked From “Huge Audiences”

As Big Tech social media companies go to great lengths to censor and suppress views they don’t agree with, legacy media outlet hacks are calling on cable news networks to answer for distributing growing right-wing news channels One America News Network (OANN) and Newsmax to thousands of homes.

Oh, no, that’s not totally fascistic at all.

Aren’t these the same people who were clutching their pearls when Trump said that “fake news” was the “enemy of the people” and now they’re calling for their partisan competitors to be silenced?

Breitbart reports that “CNN has opened a new front in its efforts to blacklist its competetors” as a former Facebook executive stated on the network that YouTube and other platforms ought to “turn down the capability” of conservative outlets to reach “huge audiences.”

Meanwhile, the network’s reporter Oliver Darcy went a step further, calling on cable companies to cease bringing networks like OANN and Newsmax TV to their customers.

CNN’s Brian Stelter recently had on as a guest Alex Stamos, a former executive at Facebook who suggested that web platforms need to act to suppress any content that might undermine the gloriously righteous mission of legacy cable news.

“We have to turn down the capability of these Conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences…” said Stamos.

“There are people on YouTube for example that have a larger audience than daytime CNN,” he also added, perhaps missing what a hilarious own this was to the notoriously fake news network whose (scant) audience he was addressing.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald noted of this rhetoric that it was comparable to efforts taken to suppress ISIS recruiting.

“Here’s a former Facebook executive on CNN *explicitly urging that the same tactics that were used in cooperation with the US security state to remove ISIS from the internet now be used against ‘conservative influencers,’ to deprogram everyone to believe the CNN/liberal consensus,” he noted.

Darcy, for his part, took to Twitter to issue a cancel culture call to arms against major cable providers for having the audacity to deliver a cable news program that customers are willing to pay for into their homes in the freest nation in the history of mankind.

“Just a reminder that neither [Verizon], [ATT], nor [comcast] have answered any questions about why they beam channels like OAN & Newsmax into millions of homes,” he tweeted. “Do they have any second thoughts about distributing these channels given their election denialism content? They won’t say.”

“Darcy did not acknowledge his question to the cable companies, which have never in recent memory been asked to justify carrying news channels, as unusual,” Breitbart notes.

He also failed to note that CNN is a direct competitor with Newsmax and OANN, meaning they stand to gain if these networks were cancel cultured out of cable.

“The attempt to pressure cable providers into blacklisting CNN’s competitors is a sign that the far-left news network is looking beyond Big Tech censorship as a means of suppressing the competition and protecting the corporate media’s agenda-setting power from heterodox points of view,” Breitbart concludes.

We’ve long been warning about the dangers of Big Tech censorship and deceptively biased mainstream media spin.

Free speech has been under assault for years, but it appears the dawning era may see an unprecedented attack on this fundamental value of a free republic.
