House Passes Radical Bill Which Would Overturn Pro-Life Laws Everywhere, Legalize Abortion Up Until Birth

The pro-life community was stunned on Friday to witness the House of Representatives narrowly vote to pass a radical pro-abortion law that would nullify every pro-life law in the country, legalize abortion up until birth, and forced doctors to perform abortions against their conscience.

The bill was presented as an attempt to codify the 1973 Supreme Court Ruling Roe v. Wade that effectively legalized abortion in the United States but as Life News notes, goes far beyond what that grievous ruling entailed.

“This bill is far outside the American mainstream and goes far beyond Roe v. Wade,” New Jersey Republican Congressman Chris Smith, chair of the House’s pro-life caucus, said. “This bill constitutes an existential threat to unborn children and to the value of life itself.”

“For the first time ever by congressional statute, H.R. 3755 would legally enable the death of unborn baby girls and boys by dismemberment, decapitation, forced expulsion from the womb, deadly poisons, or other methods at any time until birth,” he explained, according to the Arlington Catholic Herald.

The outlet reports that the bill would nullify: “requirements to provide women seeking abortion with specific information on their unborn child and on alternatives to abortion; laws requiring a waiting period before a woman receives an abortion; laws allowing medical professionals to opt out of providing abortions; and laws stating that only licensed physicians can perform abortions.”

Sickeningly, H.R. 3755 is deceptively titled the Women’s Health Protection Act, yet as Life News speculates, the “Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act” would have been more accurate as this was clearly the aim.

“Pro-abortion Democrats have revealed their true vision for abortion policy in America by pushing the deceptively named Women’s Health Protection Act,” Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life, said of the bill, according to Life News. “If Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and their allies get their way, the United States will soon be indistinguishable from North Korea and China on the human rights issue of abortion.”

Its text reads “A health care provider has a statutory right under this Act to provide abortion services, and may provide abortion services, and that provider’s patient has a corresponding right to receive such services, without any of the following limitations or requirements,” and then lists numerous examples of pro-life laws and regulations.”

According to Life News, should the bill be passed, it would:

  • Eliminate all state and federal parental consent laws in relation to abortion

  • Eliminate all state informed consent laws, including those that allow women to view an ultrasound prior to abortion

  • Prevent states from passing laws to protect babies at 20 weeks, thereby joining countries like North Korea, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada, and the Netherlands in not protecting unborn children later in development

  • Force doctors and nurses opposed to abortion to lose their jobs, and Catholic hospitals could lose public funds unless they perform abortions

  • Eliminate decades-long limitations on direct taxpayer funding of abortion – including the popular Hyde Amendment, which has saved over 2 million lives since enacted

  • In short, overturn all federal and state pro-life laws, and go further to make it illegal for elected officials to even introduce pro-life legislation.

The bill is radical and extreme — but thankfully, unlikely to be taken up by the Senate. The Democrats would need 10 Republicans and every Democrat to support the legislation in order to beat a filibuster, which is unlikely, as NPR noted.

Democratic Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania have previously voted with Republicans on abortion-related bills and would be very likely to do so in the case of this far-reaching piece of legislation.

Yet the fact that it was introduced and voted on in the House speaks volumes as to how radical the pro-abortion Democrats have become in the face of both significant abortion restrictions such as the Texas heartbeat bill and the possibility that Roe could be overturned by the Supreme Court in an upcoming ruling related to Mississippi abortion restrictions.
