While many of us have already tucked away the ornaments, left the tree out on the curb, and fully switched off of “holiday mode,” still many are basking in the warm glow of yet another glorious celebration of God’s gift of salvation—His Son.
On that note, I’d like to share with our readers, in case you missed it, President Donald Trump’s wonderful Christmas message, which is worth remembering the whole year through.
Where countless presidents before have used their speeches and statements to turn Christmas into a holiday that is ecumenical at best and wholly secular at worst, President Trump kept the focus of his Christmas Day address where it belongs: on Jesus, and on the Americans whom he serves.
“During this joyous time of year, we join a grateful Nation in thanking God for His abundant blessings and boundless love,” the president said in a statement released by the White House.
The president continued:
As families, friends, and communities come together to rejoice in the birth of Christ, we are reminded of the divine message from the first Christmas: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. While the challenges that face our country are great, the bonds that unite us as Americans are much stronger. Together, we must strive to foster a culture of deeper understanding and respect—traits that exemplify the teachings of Christ.
As we celebrate Christmas, we remember the precious religious liberties our forefathers so righteously fought to secure. We also pause to pay tribute to those courageous men and women of our Armed Forces who continue to fight for our cherished freedoms. As Commander in Chief, I salute them for their service and thank their family members for their shared sacrifice in this noble mission, especially during the holiday season.
We hope your heart is filled with the love and joy of your faith, family, and friends this Christmas. We send our best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
The president and first lady also released a sweet Christmas message on social media.
“At this sacred time of year, Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and rejoice in His love for every person,” President Trump said as a beautiful Christmas tree and ceramic nativity scene came into view.
“We give thanks for the millions of Americans who come together to care for others with compassion and bring the warmth and bliss of this holy season to our families our friends our neighbors and to those in need,” he said, highlighting Red Cross volunteers filling care packages.
“As we gather with loved ones this holiday,” First Lady Melania continued, “Americans across this land are grateful for all the men and women in uniform who keep us safe: our military, our police, and everyone in law enforcement.”
“We say a special prayer for those military service members stationed far from home,” the president stated, “and we renew our hope for peace among nations and joy to the world.”
“On behalf of the entire Trump family,” the president concluded, “we wish everyone a joyous and Merry Christmas and a very happy, happy new year.”
