In the wake of several abortion regulation bills being passed into law in red states, Illinois is now trying to pass the nation’s most radical pro-abortion legislation yet.
The bill, passed in the Illinois House of Representatives, not only repeals the state’s ban on partial-birth abortion, but allows for non-doctors to perform abortions and eliminates protections for babies who are born alive after attempted abortions.
It’s New York all over again, but even worse.
The bill, ironically named the Reproductive Health Act, passed 64 to 50, with six Democrats shockingly voting against their party. The next stop is the Democrat-controlled state Senate, where it will likely pass.
Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List National Campaign Chair Jill Stanek sums up the bill pretty well in a statement to Life Site:
“It allows abortion throughout pregnancy, up to the moment of birth, for any reason. It allows abortions by a non-doctor in a facility that’s not inspected and doesn’t have to report injuries,” explained Stanek. “It strips away conscience protections for pro-life health care workers and forces all health insurance policies to cover abortions, including religious organizations. It even goes so far as to repeal Illinois’ ban on barbaric partial-birth abortions and eliminates protections for babies born alive during failed abortions.”
This legislation is barbaric and wicked. It sends the message to the rest of the country that Illinois does not value human life. It’s an invitation for those living in states with laws protecting the unborn to flock to Illinois if they want to take care of their “pesky pregnancy” problem. This concern was acknowledged by Republican Rep. Avery Bourne on the House floor, who said, “We already know that we’ve got women coming to Illinois to have abortions because we are so expansive on this issue. That will continue.”
Of course, liberal lawmakers put themselves up on a pedestal and behave as though they are doing some kind of moral work to liberate women everywhere. Openly-lesbian Democrat state Rep. Kelly Cassidy declared:
“To our neighbors in Illinois who hear the news around the country and worry that this war on women is coming to Illinois, I say, not on my watch.” She went on to say, “To the people in Missouri and Alabama and Georgia and Kentucky and Mississippi and Ohio, I say, not on my watch.”
Here’s a lady who doesn’t understand how federalism works; what other states do in their legislatures is most certainly not the business of this Illinois state representative.
The unfortunate irony is that they have actually brought the war on women to Illinois.
Unregulated abortion on demand only promotes a culture in which sex is casual and meaningless and women have no worth. Where women forfeit their power to abstain from being used as a sexual object. Where pregnancy is an inconvenient “side effect” and babies are disposable. Where the beautiful God-given ability to produce life is degraded to a nuisance that a woman must escape from.
This is the real war on women.
Illinois has declared they are the safe haven for anyone looking to murder an unborn baby. They will answer one day for what they are doing.
But we don’t have to.
As we have seen at our Day of Mourning events, which were spurred in response to New York’s horrific abortion laws, passed in January, revival is sweeping the nation.
The extent to which the left is supporting the barbaric murder of the unborn is waking people up and pricking the conscience of Christians across the nation who have been complacent in this holocaust until now.
The longer we stand by while innocent children are murdered, the longer we will continue to see bloodshed in our nation. Join us in repentance and prayer for the murder to end and for God to have mercy on our nation.
It’s not too late. We can be the generation that puts an end to abortion!
