Slowly, over the last few decades, our nation’s higher learning institutions have changed from prestigious halls of research, rhetoric, debate, and intellectual rigor to greenhouses for far-left ideology.
It’s not that there’s no place for far-left ideology in the most prestigious universities in the world. These are certainly good platforms for these ideas to be hashed out.
It’s that they have become places that are only for far-left ideology, and, rather than being sized up by the classical traditions that we use to test good ideas from bad.
And there seems to no longer be hardly any place for the founding principles of our nation.
Sadly, Yale’s incoming class of freshman seem to exemplify this educational travesty perfectly.
From The College Fix:
A Yale Daily News survey of freshmen students at that university found that more students of the class of 2022 identify on the LGBTQ spectrum than as conservative, and that queer freshmen even outnumber other sizable demographics in the class, such as Protestants and Catholics.
The paper’s survey, the results of which are composed of 864 respondents, or just over one-half of the freshman class, found that only nine percent of respondents identified as “somewhat conservative,” with one percent identifying as “very conservative.” LGBTQ respondents, on the other hand, greatly outnumberd conservatives in total: According to the survey, “nearly 5 percent [of respondents] identify as gay and just over 9 percent as bisexual or transsexual. Three percent opted not to answer, and the remaining 8 percent identified as asexual, ace spectrum or questioning their sexual orientation.”
This combined demographic outnumbers even Protestants and Catholics, whom the survey identified as 16 percent and 15 percent of the incoming class, respectively.
What does it say about our future leaders that the incoming class at one of the top Ivy Leagues, is more concerned with their sexuality than they are with their liberty or salvation?
We should pray for the conservative and Christian students that they can hold their own…because it’s scary to think about how they may identify after four years of far-left liberal indoctrination.
