J.K. Rowling Quotes ‘1984’ to Bash Police Policy Allowing Male Rape Suspects to Identify As Female

Renowned children’s book author J.K. Rowling has made a bit of a name for herself as a so-called “TERF,” i.e. a “trans exclusive radical feminist,” for her vocalized objection to certain schools of thought surrounding gender and transgenderism.

She has yet again inspired cries of “transphobia” with a recent tweet which compared a Scottish police policy allowing male rape suspects to identify as female to the dystopian novel 1984.

“War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. The Penised Individual Who Raped You Is a Woman,” she wrote along with an article from The Times UK which called the policy “absurdity.”

“Police Scotland said that they would log rapes as being carried out by a woman if the accused person insists, even if they have not legally changed gender,” The Times piece she tweeted notes.

“The sex/gender identification of individuals who come into contact with the police will be based on how they present or how they self-declare, which is consistent with the values of the organization,” Detective Superintendent Fil Capaldi said, according to The Scottish Sun. “Police Scotland requires no evidence or certification as proof of biological sex or gender identity other than a person’s self-declaration, unless it is pertinent to any investigation with which they are linked.”

This is not the first time that Rowling has sarcastically responded to stories about so-called gender inclusivity.

In June, she responded to an article entitled ‘Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate’ by commenting, “People who menstruate. I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
