Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has never shied away from voicing her opinions on politics, and her views are usually welcomed with open arms by the progressive left, who love her anti-Trump or pro-mass migration rantings.
This time around, however, she’s attracted the wrath of the trans-affirming Twitter masses, who are outraged that the wildly successful children’s book author would voice support for a woman who was fired for saying that a man can’t become a woman.
Gosh, no matter how often we cover these stories, it never ceases to amaze how often we have to clarify that, indeed, a man cannot become a woman.
We need to keep repeating this, until it no longer needs to be repeated.
Anyway, back to J.K. Rowling’s thought-crime spree.
Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) December 19, 2019
“Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?” she wrote on Twitter, including the hashtag #IStandWithMaya.
Maya Forstater, 45, was fired from her job as a tax expert for the Centre for Global Development in March of this year after being accused of publishing “offensive” tweets daring to question such insane statism as government proposals to allow people to self-identify as members of the opposite sex, according to The Telegraph.
Her legal dispute against her former employer was seen as a test case on whether a “gender critical” view – meaning a belief that there are only two biological sexes – is a protected philosophical belief under the 2010 Equality Act.
However, in the landmark judgment published yesterday, employment Judge Tayler decided Ms Forstater’s view “is incompatible with human dignity and fundamental rights of others”.
They also note that:
If Ms Forstater had won the case, it would have legally prevented employers from dismissing staff for expressing the “offensive” view that there are only two biological sexes.
We’ve covered more of the details of this important case in a separate article. It’s a must-read!
Anyway, back to JK Rowling, on whom the hoards of triggered SJW Harry Potter fans descended, feeling utterly betrayed:
I grew up as a trans child reading your books as an escape. I would often pick out names from characters to give to myself, before I ever felt comfortable in who I was. This decision, to support people that hate me, and want to do me harm. It brings me to tears… Why. Why?

When I was little, my dream was to one day ask you how people like me would have been accomodated for in hogwarts..
I'm afraid that my dreams might have been crushed if I ever got that chance.— Lily is entering unprecedented levels of lethargy (@notafootstool) December 19, 2019
What, exactly, is to be gained by using your platform to be cruel and exclusionary to one of the world’s most vulnerable populations?

Bear in mind, they are behaving as if Rowling expressed hatred for transgender people. Rowling didn’t even herself undermine the assertions of gender theorists, she simply expressed support for someone who had. This is one of the most problematic aspects of gender theory. There can be no intellectual honesty when they insist that people can choose their gender and that anyone with even a slightly nuanced view of such a claim is a vile bigot.
That’s not all. When another top-tier Twitter celebrity leftist, actor Mark Hammil, dared to “like” her tweet, the hoards piled on him as well, forcing him to claim ignorance.
Ignorance is no excuse, but I liked the tweet without understanding what the last line or hashtags meant. It was the 1st 4 lines I liked & I didn't realize it had any transphobic connotation. https://t.co/vefcuZEQF9

This is where we’re at right now. You could be the most die-hard progressive there is, but if you dare question gender theory or even simply advocate for protected speech for those who do, they’ll throw you to the proverbial wolves.
