Jimmy Kimmel Jokes That ICUs Should Neglect Unvaccinated COVID-19 Patients: “Rest In Peace, Wheezy”

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is not one to shy away from biting political commentary and his return from a summer break this week was no exception.

The ABC host quipped during his program on Tuesday night that hospitals should deprioritize care to unvaccinated patients who are admitted for complications with COVID-19, quipping “rest in peace, wheezy!”

Lamenting that his audience had to attend the airing of Jimmy Kimmel Live! donning masks which have been recommended due to an increase of case numbers attributed to the delta variant of the virus, Kimmel referenced comments made by White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci who has said that hospital intensive care units might be faced with some “tough choices” when beds are in high demand.

Kimmel said he didn’t think the choice was so tough and that unvaccinated patients should be the first to be denied care.

“That choice doesn’t seem so tough to me,” the host declared. “Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in. We’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.”

The “horse goo” is a reference to the antiparasitic ivermectin, which is widely used to treat livestock and has long been floated as a potential therapeutic for COVID-19.

While ivermectin has been FDA approved for humans as well to treat parasite-related conditions such as lice or river blindness the agency has not approved the drug to treat COVID-19 and its use in this manner has been a topic of much heated debate.

“Poison control centers across the country have seen a spike in calls from people taking livestock medicine to fight the coronavirus, but they won’t take the vaccine, which is crazy,” Kimmel continued. “It’s like if you’re a vegan and you’re like, ‘No, I don’t want a hamburger — give me that can of Alpo instead.'”

The Daily Wire notes that while Mississippi Poison Control reported that 1.4% of their calls were from patients who believed they had overdosed on ivermectin, the only instance in which hospitals have reported treating such cases turned out to be a single testimony from an emergency room physician which was debunked by the hospital where he claimed to be working.

Yet it was not necessarily his comments on controversial therapeutics that garnered criticism for Kimmel’s biting comments, it was his callous disregard for the lives of those who had opted to forsake the vaccine, which is the primary method of COVID-19 prevention touted by the establishment medical community.

“Sick. Angry Leftist to anyone who disagrees with him on vaccines: ‘Rest in peace, wheezy.’ THAT’S AN ACTUAL QUOTE,” tweeted Texas Senator Ted Cruz. “I’ve been vaccinated, but I don’t wish death on those who make different choices.”
