This, my friends, is absolutely awesome.
JK Rowling, who, as Activist Mommy reported last week, received widespread backlash after tweeting out her support for a woman fired for questioning gender theory, is standing her ground in the midst of the leftist mobs.
And this woman is typically one of the leftist mob’s patron celebrity SJW saints!
Here’s the backstory, in case you missed it.
Maya Forstater is a British woman whose contract at the leftist think tank where she was employed as a tax expert was not renewed after tweets were discovered in which she had declared that a man cannot become a woman.
Indeed, a man cannot become a woman, but nonetheless, an employment judge found in favor of her former employer, the Centre for Global Development, hence confirming that British citizens can be fired if they affirm that biological impossibilities are, in fact, biologically impossible on their own personal social media account (read more about her story here).
So Rowling, the author of the wildly popular Harry Potter series, like so many other even halfway-rationally thinking people, was quite outraged.
As you can imagine.
Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.

“Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?” she tweeted out, along with the hashtag #IStandWithMaya.
Well, cue the keyboard warriors, swooping in to the Wizard of Oz flying monkey soundtrack.
The mobs descended, both in the comments of her tweet and, in the days that followed, in scathing, mournful op-eds such as Opinion: Harry Potter lives on in us, not in J.K. Rowling’s tweets, and JK Rowling is the Exemplification of Why We Need the Death of the Author (what does that even mean?), and the snippy reporting from Vox, J.K Rowling’s latest tweet seems like transphobic bulls***.
What’s pleasantly surprising, however, is that Rowling so far seems to barely care.
When GLAAD reached out to demand that she kowtow to the liberal moms, the Daily Wire reports, she didn’t blink.
“GLAAD has been among Rowling’s most vocal critics, often saying on social media that Rowling is putting transgender individuals ‘at risk’ because she refuses to believe men can be considered women for the purposes of things like privacy and sport,” they note. “On Friday, the pro-LGBTQ rights group put out a statement blasting Rowling and challenging her to meet with transgender activists and cherry-picked scientists in order to expand her worldview.”
“J.K. Rowling, whose books gave kids hope that they could work together to create a better world, has now aligned herself with an anti-science ideology that denies the basic humanity of people who are transgender,” the group’s “head of talent” said in a statement, Variety reported.
“Trans men, trans women and non-binary people are not a threat, and to imply otherwise puts trans people at risk. Now is the time for allies who know and support trans people to speak up and support their fundamental right to be treated equally and fairly.”
Let’s pause and remember that this is a response to someone saying that you shouldn’t be fired for saying men can’t become women.
Let that sink in.
“In a move that must have been shocking to GLAAD, Rowling herself ignored them,” DW explains. “Her representatives declined GLAAD’s offer of re-education.”
Ha!
Look, there are probably so very many issues on which I’d consider Rowling to be completely wrong. So why am I celebrating this small glimmer of hope that the left might actually return to quasi-sanity?
This is because it takes a particular degree of insanity to try to change not only language but the very concept of reality as the gender theorists do. Their demand that we adhere to their standards flies in the face of all western liberalism and thought, and even a far-leftist like Rowling, as well as other classical liberals (such as Ricky Gervais, who is also currently under fire for thought crimes against transgenders) can appreciate the implications this kind of censorship has.
Perhaps if more people on the left were willing to stand up and risk being called a bigot to speak the truth, we might actually begin to see a return to sanity in the western world.
