A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested last week over accusations that he sexually abused a 16-year-old girl.

He has been relieved of his duties and his peace officer powers have been suspended, according to the LA Sheriff’s Department.

Fox 11 reports that 41-year-old Antonio Heriberto Galindo, who also coached girls’ softball teams, was arrested on August 28 for allegedly abusing the teen girl in Rancho Cucamonga.

Authorities in San Bernardino County later discovered he was a member of law enforcement in Los Angeles County.

He is currently being held with a bail of $100,000 and has been charged with contacting a minor for sex, engaging in sex acts with a minor, and forcible sexual penetration of a minor.

Investigators believe he may have had other victims.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department released a statement which read:

The Department is aware of an incident in which one of our personnel was arrested by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for sex crimes on Saturday, August 28, 2021.  The employee has been relieved of duty and peace officer powers have been suspended.  The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is the handling agency and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is monitoring the criminal outcome of this case.  Due to the active investigation, we are unable to offer further comment at this time, but what we can say is Sheriff Alex Villanueva will not tolerate misconduct or criminal behavior of any kind and those personnel who choose to break the law will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Anyone who has information about the investigation was urged to call the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail and can provide anonymous tips at the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463)

It is truly sick to think that this man could have been preying on a teen girl in this manner — it is all the sicker that he was a member of law enforcement and a person whom parents likely thought could be trusted.

Pray for justice to prevail and for the full truth to come out.
