Model In Labor Responds To Michelle Williams Pro-Abortion Speech: “Babies Do Not Keep Us From Our Dreams”

Hollywood awards ceremonies are certainly no place to look for models of godliness and morality. Still, it was no less horrifying to see a very visibly pregnant Michelle Williams crediting her success as an actress with her decision to have an abortion earlier in life.

“When you put this in someone’s hands,” Williams said, clutching the award, “you’re acknowledging the choices that they make as an actor, moment by moment, scene by scene, day by day, but you’re also acknowledging the choices they make as a person, the education they pursued, the training they sought, the hours they put in.”

“I’m grateful for the acknowledgment of the choices I’ve made, and I’m also grateful to have lived at a moment in our society where choice exists because as women and as girls, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice,” Williams continued. “I’ve tried my very best to live a life of my own making and not just a series of events that happened to me, but one that I can stand back and look at and recognize my handwriting all over—sometimes messy and scrawling, sometimes careful and precise, but one that I carved with my own hand. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without employing a woman’s right to choose. To choose when to have my children and with whom. When I felt supported and able to balance our lives knowing as all mothers know that the scales must and will tip towards our children, now.”

“I know my choices might look different than yours,” Williams continued. “But thank God, or whomever you pray to, that we live in a country founded on the principle that I am free to live by my faith and you are free to live by yours.”

Williams also called on women listening to vote in the upcoming elections “in [their] own self-interest,” because clearly that’s how these people make moral decisions—based on how it will affect them and their bottom line.

“It’s what men have been doing for years, which is why the world looks so much like them,” Williams pontificated. “Don’t forget: We are the largest voting body in this country. Let’s make it look more like us.”

Although Williams’ sugar-coated praise of the murder of children roiled many pro-life pundits, perhaps the single most powerful response was made all the more compelling by the fact that the woman who made it happened to be in labor with her fifth child.

“I’m here getting ready to deliver my fifth baby,” said Leah Darrow, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model, in a video shared on Instagram from her hospital bed. “And I want to let all you women know, all you young ladies who haven’t had babies or are maybe listening to what the culture says about birth, and women, and babies, and choice.”

“Babies don’t keep us from our dreams,” Darrow declared. “I’m getting ready to deliver a baby that will not keep me from my professional growth, but will make me better because of it.”

“New life never keeps us from our dreams,” Darrow wrote. “One of the cruelest lies that the Devil tells women is that we aren’t brave or strong enough to do what God invites us into when we bring life into the world. New life is always a gift. And I’m humbled that I get to receive this new life AND live out the *abundant* life the Lord created me for.”

Williams, already a mother to a 14-year-old girl by late actor Heath Ledger, knows full well what abortion involves. She knows that the only difference between the baby she aborted, her teenage daughter, and the baby she is currently expecting, is that the former simply wasn’t wanted at the time.

This isn’t about choice or freedom or “women’s rights.” It’s about selfish convenience and the protection of one’s own interests at the cost of an innocent life.

Several other notable pro-life voices shredded Williams’ speech on social media, including author Eric Sammons:

“How sad it must be to trade an innocent human life for a tiny golden statue. Praying for Michelle Williams,” tweeted Abby Johnson:

“As a woman, I am sick of this belief that all women should be okay with murdering their children for personal gain,” said Elizabeth Fortmeyer. “Real women are pro-life.”

“Michelle Williams, while visibly pregnant, claims she wouldn’t have won her Golden Globe Award if she didn’t kill her previous child,” tweeted Live Action Founder and President Lila Rose, who recently gave birth to her first child. “No trophy is worth more than a child’s life. Sacrificing our children to pursue our dreams is the total antithesis of women’s empowerment.”

Real Life Catholic president Chris Stefanick pulled no punches in boiling down the logic that leftists use to promote abortion as a means for mothers to pursue their careers:

And, lastly, abortion abolitionist Laura Klassen shared an illustration that demonstrates the issue better than any words ever could:

Williams’ speech is a brazen admission of the truth of the abortion issue: pro-aborts reject God as the One who opens and closes our wombs and orders our very steps. Instead, they seek to usurp His place on the throne and instead carve out their lives “with their own hands,” even if it takes the murder of a child to do so.
