Planned Parenthood’s president is “over the moon” with the Biden administration thus far and plans to push “bold agenda items” now that pro-abortion Democrats reign in the White House and Congress.
“We should be pushing bold agenda items in the name of building back better,” president and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson told Business Insider earlier this month.
“We are engaging in the policy side, on the education side, on messaging, and personnel—all of the ways that we think can be good policymaking but also support the use of the bully pulpit that the White House carries,” McGill Johnson went on.
In his first few weeks as president, Biden revoked the Mexico City Policy, once more allowing taxpayer dollars to fund abortions around the world. Before that, The Daily Caller reports, he commemorated the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade ruling by vowing to both appoint pro-choice federal judges and to codify the ruling into federal law.
With a conservative majority in the Supreme Court, however, Planned Parenthood is hoping to see Roe v. Wade codified into law before the Supreme Court has a chance to revisit and possibly strike down the ruling, Insider reported.
Today, we celebrate these initial steps on the path towards reclaiming full ownership over our bodies, our health, and our futures. We're grateful @POTUS & @VP have begun to right the wrongs of the last four years — but this is only the beginning. #ReproBlueprint #BuildBackBetter https://t.co/7ULDo6OXam

McGill Johnson said that Planned Parenthood is also hoping that Biden will enhance the accessibility of abortion during the ongoing pandemic by ending restrictions on abortion pills.
McGill Johnson also expressed hope that Biden would increase funding for Title X family planning programs and focus on “modernizing” the program and “making sure that it’s inclusive of everyone, of all races and genders.”
“What we’re excited about potentially seeing in the executive action today is that opportunity to build back, to modernize, to really think about all of the ways in which we can take a 50-year-old program and rethink it and reimagine it for the future,” she told Insider.
Biden ordered the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a review of the Title X family planning regulations late in January.
Under President Donald Trump’s “Protect Life Rule,” organizations that perform or promote abortions, such as Planned Parenthood, were prohibited from receiving Title X funds.
Xavier Becerra, Biden’s pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services, is unsurprisingly and staunchly pro-abortion, having previously defended a California state law requiring pro-life pregnancy centers to post signs telling patients how they could get state-funded abortions. That law was struck down by the US Supreme Court back in 2018 as a violation of free speech. McGill Johnson told Insider she plans to meet with Becerra as soon as possible.
In her interview, McGill Johnson heaped praises upon Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she was “over the moon” that the former California Attorney General and Senator had ascended to the vice presidency.
“She has really demonstrated her facility of understanding our issues but also the intersection of sexual and reproductive health care with issues of race, with issues of the economy, with issues of democracy and our American values,” McGill Johnson declared. “I’m completely over the moon and so excited to support her leadership and support their vision for how we transform health care, as well as sexual reproductive health care.”
