Qantas, a major airline in Australia, has announced that it will require vaccination for the novel coronavirus for international travelers on its aircraft.
According to a report by Forbes, the airline “might have just set a new standard for travel in the post-COVID era.”
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce announced the policy shift in a television interview earlier this week.
“For international travelers,” Joyce said, “we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft.”
“Whether you need that domestically,” Joyce went on, “we’ll have to see what happens with COVID-19 in the market. But certainly, for international visitors coming out and people leaving the country, we think that’s a necessity.”
Joyce also predicted that Qantas may not be the only airline to make such egregious demands of its customers. “I’m talking to my colleagues in other airlines around the globe, and I think it’s going to be a common thing across the board,” he suggested.
“What we’re looking at is how you can have a vaccination passport,” Joyce went on, addressing the complicated logistics of enacting a vaccination requirement. “An electronic version of it – that certifies what the vaccine is, is acceptable in the country you are traveling to?”
“There’s a lot of logistics, a lot of technology, that will be needed to put in place to make this happen,” Joyce admits. “But the airlines and the governments are working on this as we speak.”
Joyce also expressed optimism that progress made with coronavirus vaccine trials could likely lead the airline industry to return to full-capacity operations sooner.
Folks, make no mistake; this won’t be limited to Australia. It is the right of every individual on the planet to determine for themselves whether they will accept what many consider to be a hastily-produced vaccine.
Neither the State nor any other individual or entity has the right to compel you to alter your body in any way—but they’ll sure try. The line in the sand regarding the totalitarian approach to coronavirus was drawn long ago. It’s time to decide where you stand.
