The “Duck Dynasty” family is praising the Lord after narrowly escaping a bizarre drive-by shooting on their property over the weekend.
“We were pretty shook up,” Willie Robertson told USA Today on Sunday. “It looks like they were just spraying bullets across my property.”
“It was broad daylight,” he continued, adding that he believes the suspect targeted his property. “I’m 100% certain, but I don’t know why.”
According to KNOE 8 News, Daniel King Jr. was arrested for shooting at two homes on the Robertson’s property on April 24, 2020.
King alleges he was merely “checking the safety” of his gun when multiple shots went off in the direction of the Robertson’s estate around 2:30 in the afternoon.
KNOE 8 reports:
According to a court affidavit, the passenger of a truck fired a .380 caliber gun numerous times, hitting one of the homes through an outer window. Three people occupied the home that was hit. Five people occupied the other. Spent shell casings were found on the scene.
When King was located, investigators say, he stated he was trying to see whether the gun’s safety was on and it “went off numerous times” while in his hand. Authorities say he stated that he had been drinking vodka during this incident.
Records state that a witness in the vehicle told investigators that King used a handgun to fire multiple rounds from a moving vehicle.
King was arrested on April 26 and booked into the Ouachita Correction Center on a charge of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the shooting. King’s story is a bit baffling considering, as USA Today notes, the Robertson’s “property and houses on it are behind a fence and gate and located far off of the road.” The report also says, “one of the shots went through the bedroom window of the home where son John Luke Robertson lives with his wife Mary Kate McEachern and their infant child.”
Sadie Robertson Huff took to Instagram to reassure followers that the family was unharmed.
“Hi, yes the news is true if you’ve seen it. We had someone shoot at our property. Just wanted to say we are all okay. It shook us all up of course, but we are just so thankful everyone in our family is okay. Especially after one of the bullets flew through the window of my brothers home… The timing of where we were at the time was crazy protection because we had all just gone inside. We have been resting on Psalm 91 and each other’s gratitude for all being okay ❤️ thank you for your prayers,” she wrote.
Thank the Lord this God-fearing family is safe!
