The vice-mayor of Dixon, California has refused to step down after penning a column sarcastically calling for a “Straight Pride Month” that attracted national news.
Ted Hickman writes a regular column in the local paper the Independent Voice, and, at the end of June, which was Gay Pride Month, made a strong, albiet sarcastic, argument for why straight people also have plenty of reason to be proud.
“We ARE different from them. … We work, have families, (and babies we make) enjoy and love the company (and marriage) of the opposite sex and don’t flaunt our differences dressing up like faries and prancing by the thousands in a parade,” Hickman wrote, according to the Sacramento Bee.
He has clarified that the column was only meant to be tongue-in-cheek humor, but, as you can predict, having tarnished the sacred cow of the left so severely, he is facing national backlash.
Inspiringly, however, despite being called on by protesters to resign and facing a petition for recall, Hickman and his publisher are standing by Hickman’s right to say what he said, even after critics uncovered “Islamaphobic” comments from 2014:
Outrage over the column has not prompted the longtime newspaper publisher to change the way he does things. “I’m a cantankerous and adamant defender of freedom of the press,“ he told The Bee on Friday.
Scholl says he edits columns written by Hickman and others for typos, but does not alter the content unless it is libelous, indecent or a violation of copyright law.
“I don’t allow racist comments,” he said.
He brushed aside questions about the numerous anti-Islamic statements in Hickman’s columns. “He doesn’t like the Orthodox Muslim countries where they are misogynistic and kill people that are gay,” he said.
The leftist narrative has so dominated the conversation as of late, that it is now perfectly acceptable for homosexuals to flaunt every aspect of their sexuality down the street, yet heterosexuals are unable to simply joke about the idea of “straight pride.”
The LGBT community and their mainstream enablers have become more fascist than we could have ever imagined, where lives and careers are ruined simply for not bowing to the mainstream narrative of political correctness.
We need more Mayor Hickmans to turn the narrative on its head and defiantly refuse to let our liberties be stripped away by the groupthink that is Cultural Marxism.
