South Dakota Governor Who Refused To Impose Draconian Lockdown Thrown Parade By Grateful Citizens

While Democrat governors across the nation are abusing their power to oppress citizens and restrict their freedoms, this story shows just how much Americans appreciate it when their rights are not trampled on by their state governments.

South Dakota Republican Governor Kristi Noem has stood her ground in refusing to issue a draconian stay-at-home order for state residents. Despite a coronavirus outbreak in a meat processing factory in Sioux Falls, Noem remained unwavering in her decision not to infringe on the freedoms and personal liberties of her constituents.

Noem said on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” last week that “the people of South Dakota can be trusted to make good decisions. We have common sense. That’s why people want to live here and that’s why I love living here.”

In a show of support and appreciation for Noem, some grateful residents decided to orchestrate a parade in her honor last week. A stark contrast from the protests governors in other states around the country are seeing from frustrated and distressed citizens.

The Blaze reports that the parade included a variety of vehicles like firetrucks blaring their sirens, along with a pickup which hauled a stock trailer, a concrete truck, and construction equipment. Residents went all out to show how thankful they were to have a state leader prioritize their freedoms and rights.

Noem tweeted, “I am so blessed to serve the people of the great State of South Dakota. You folks made my day!”

On Monday, Noem released the “Back to Normal Plan” for her state while stressing her confidence in South Dakotans to use their common sense and exercise personal responsibility for their own health. According to the Argus Leader, Noem said, “I am not announcing any new government programs, more red tape, more prescriptive phases or tight controls. That is not South Dakota. Rather, the plan I’m unveiling today puts the power into the hands of the people where it belongs.”

It truly is refreshing to see a state leader serving at the behest of the American people rather than a political agenda. Noem recognizes that rural South Dakota is very different than states with densely populated urban areas and refused to implement a “one size fits all” type of solution to the coronavirus outbreak.

She refused to jeopardize the livelihoods of South Dakotans while taking a reasonable and restrained approach to the coronavirus and they responded with gratitude and appreciation. This is how democracy should look. We applaud Governor Kristi Noem!
