Steve Hilton Calls On Parents to Tell Schools to Reopen In the Fall “Or Give Me My Money Back”

The last week has seen much discussion on whether or not schools will be reopening in the fall. While many Democrat governors are resisting, parents are facing the unsettling possibility that they may have to, once again, oversee several months of crisis homeschooling.

Fox News Channels’ Steve Hilton had some very pointed comments on what he called the “school fiasco,” which he said is “harming” school children and posing a serious threat to our economy on the Sunday airing of his program, the “Next Revolution.”

“Here in America, summer camps are closed, and school plans are in doubt,” Hilton stated.

“This is not safe. It’s harming our children. Almost a third of parents say their children’s emotional and mental health is suffering. Another third worry that it’ll start hurting their children soon. It’s hurting their education and their future prospects, too. The evidence is piling up that remote learning doesn’t work, especially for the poorest families and those in rural areas with unreliable internet. And perhaps worst of all, we’re seeing a rise in child abuse. Beyond the impact on children, there’s the impact on our economy. If kids can’t go to school, parents can’t go to work.”

Hilton then urged parents watching to demand their money back from the schools if they refuse to reopen in the fall.

“We believe in decentralization on this show, and we believe, above all, in people power,” the Popular Populism author declared.

“It’s time to use it over this school’s fiasco. If your child’s school won’t open this fall, demand your money back so you can find an alternative. It’s your child. It’s your tax dollars. Why should you pay for a service you’re not getting? That’s our new campaign — reopen schools or give me my school money back. Take it to the courts.”

While homeschool parents know the pain of paying taxes for schools their children don’t attend, a large number of families are nonetheless considering homeschooling for the fall, as we’ve reported.

The public school system is admittedly fraught with problems, as we have long sought to reveal here at Activist Mommy. Schools nonetheless are relied upon by millions of working parents who have mouths to feed. If they are closed in high numbers in the fall, could send economic shockwaves through a nation already in crisis.

Additionally, if students begin taking lessons online at higher numbers, they could also be placed at higher risk to online predation, as we have also covered.

This year will clearly continue to be fundamentally transformative for our nation…and it doesn’t seem like that’s a good thing.
