Although LBGT Americans make up less than 5% of the population (according to generous surveys, anyway), the entertainment industry nevertheless feels the need to fill the airwaves with representatives of this community, regardless of whether or not regular Americans can actually relate.
According to the Associated Press, a new study is showing that LGBT characters on television are hitting unseen highs:
The percentage of regularly seen LGBTQ characters on prime-time broadcast TV this season reached an all-time high of 10.2%, or 90 out of a total of 879 characters, according to the study released Thursday. That topped last year’s record of 8.8% and achieved the 10% goal that GLAAD had set for the networks by 2020.
“Last year, GLAAD called on the television industry to increase the number of LGBTQ characters and more accurately reflect the world we live in, and they responded by exceeding this challenge,” Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD president and CEO, said in a statement. “At a time when the cultural climate is growing increasingly divisive, increased representation of LGBTQ stories and characters on television is especially critical to advance LGBTQ acceptance.”
Series including “Pose,” set in the 1980s ballroom culture and with the biggest LGBTQ cast ever for a scripted show, and “Batwoman,” with the first gay superhero in a lead TV role, are signposts of TV’s growing diversity and proof that “viewers everywhere continue to respond with extreme positivity,” Ellis said.
So, let’s get this straight. America is experiencing an intensely sharp cultural division, and the way to solve that is to shove more LGBT propaganda in our faces in hopes that we give up on our values and fall in line?
Unlikely. The Word of God is quite clear on the issue, and no amount of television programming can change the deeply-held convictions of millions of Americans who object to the normalization of this “lifestyle.”
That’s not stopping GLAAD from setting their sights even higher in coming years, however.
The AP notes that the organization is asking the industry to reach 20% representation in regular characters on primetime scripted broadcast series by 2025, and for at least half of those to be non-white people within the next two years.
Among streaming services, GLAAD’s report notes that Netflix’s original series had the highest number of LGBT regular characters, serving as yet another reminder to cancel Netflix if you haven’t yet done so. Showtime took the title for cable channels, and CW was the most “inclusive” broadcast network.
Across all TV platforms, the AP notes that there were also increases in the number of transgender characters and those with HIV/AIDS over the last year—because that’s something to celebrate, apparently?
It’s time we stop supporting the sycophantic, “woke” media. If you are paying for cable or streaming services; you are paying to be brainwashed with deliberately manufactured propaganda. Make the call today. Cancel Netflix, cancel cable, and let them know why.
