Parents in Conroe, Texas were recently shocked to discover that a drag queen had been brought in to teach the Willis High School cosmetology students how to apply makeup.
According to one teacher, however, these parents have no right to be outraged, and what’s more, he believes that parents “don’t know what’s best for their children.”
And they wonder why families are flocking to homeschool? SMH!
Community Impact Newspaper reported that the school administration was fully aware that the drag queen, known as Lynn Adonis-Deveaux, had a history of performing in drag shows but believed he would not be showing up to the school in full drag. Instead, he tempered his look down by wearing jeans with heels, full make-up, and a wig. Let’s not ignore the t-shirt he was wearing with a depiction of himself dressed in full drag. How clever.
“School administrators learned at the end of the day that the man was wearing jeans but also wore heels and makeup,” read a statement from the Willis Independent School District. In their attempt to justify the drag queen guest instructor, WISD went on to say, “However, the speaker did as asked, which was to talk to students about makeup application. The guest speaker did not discuss sexual orientation, lifestyle or anything else other than makeup application.”
A man in full drag is a walking banner for the LGBT lifestyle, he doesn’t need to discuss sexual orientation or lifestyles (we can only imagine these topics are discussed in much greater detail over at the sex-ed class, if the national trend is any indication.)
Lynn Adonis-Deveuax” likely left little to the imagination as far as what his lifestyle is like.
As if there was any doubt this man was impressionable on the students, enthusiastically posted on Twitter after his class, “Oh Miss Lynn Adonis, how we thoroughly enjoyed your company today! Laughs all day and memories we’ll never forget. So thankful for you!”
Needless to say, parents were not happy.
But when they made their disapproval known to the district, one teacher took the opportunity to reveal the truth behind the liberal idea that children are basically “community property” rather than apart of independent family units.
This is some refreshing and bold honesty.
The Stream reports:
Many parents were livid as they had not been informed prior to the event. In response to parental backlash, English teacher Anthony Lane posted on Facebook that parents shouldn’t have the final say because they don’t know what’s best for their children. He also said that teachers are “afraid” of parents because they “are given so much authority.” He continued:
I believe that raising a child is the responsibility of the community, and that parents should not have the final say. Let’s be honest, some of you don’t know what is best for your kids.
Parents believe they should be able to storm the school in the name of political and religious beliefs if something happens in the school that they are morally opposed to. They forget that we make a promise to prepare their children to live in a diverse world. We are not required to protect the misguided, bigoted views of their parents.
If you want your children educated with your values, find a private school that will do it. The public education system is not here to serve your archaic beliefs.
The post by Lane has since been pulled down.
This teacher represents many professionals in the education system who believe this way about parenting and education.
In their minds, they have the right to indoctrinate our children and propagandize the public school system in the name of ‘tolerance’ and ‘inclusion.’ There is no acknowledgment of the fact that the public school system is supported by the tax dollars of the citizens, all of whom hold their own beliefs and do not necessarily choose to subscribe to or support those of the LGBT agenda or other progressive and godless ideas and many of whom are parents.
Sure, parents could find private schools or homeschool (assuming that option is even viable for their family) but that doesn’t change the fact that public schools are publicly funded and should therefore not be used to ideologically brainwash vulnerable and malleable young students, especially into a belief system that promotes dangerous, unhealthy and immoral lifestyles and sexual practices.
At a November 11 meeting, angry parents gathered to confront the district, including the school’s principal Stephanie Hodgins and English teacher Anthony Lane. For her part, Hodgins said, “We make decisions always keeping in mind these questions: Is this what’s best for kids? Is this going to help us grow academically? If the answer to these questions is no, then we move on. But if the answer is yes, then we are moving in the right direction.”
Lane also spoke at the meeting, saying, “I think as a district we need to make an initiative to teach our kids to be tolerant and respectful.” There is a big difference between teaching respect and tolerance (which ironically Lane displayed very little of when he called the beliefs of anyone opposed to the LGBT agenda “archaic”) and forcing an entire belief system on students, which is exactly what Willis High School is attempting to do, on the public’s dime.
According to The Stream, “a local pastor, David Riley, was more concerned about Adonis-Deveaux’s character. ‘My question is this: Who examined the character of the person who stood before our kids?’”
It seems the real question is, ‘who is examining the character of the people in charge of the school district?’ That’s a scary thought in many districts all across this country.
Parents, if your children attend a public school, continue to be engaged and vigilant. This is not an isolated incident!
