While several states across the nation have issued orders cautioning against—or outright banning—gatherings of individuals to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, countless churches, small groups, and bible studies have opted to take advantage of technology to continue fellowship with one another.
Even President Donald Trump’s campaign staffers are finding themselves thankful for apps like Zoom, which allowed them to conduct an online Bible study on Friday.
“We managed to do our weekly Bible study digitally!” tweeted National Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, sharing a photo of her participating in a video conference with several colleagues. “Loved joining my friends from the Donald Trump campaign and GOP this Friday morning.”

McEnany thanked Dr. Tom Mullins, the Founding Pastor of Christ Fellowship and a member of the Evangelicals for Trump coalition, for leading the group.
Trump campaign staffers first started their weekly Bible study back in February.
McEnany, Lyndee Rose, Sonny Nelson, and Ryann McEnany were the group’s founding members, but now up to two dozen staffers “meet” every Friday morning before work for Bible study, reading Scripture for about 30 minutes followed by 15 minutes of community prayer.
“This is oftentimes the most powerful part of our time together because you can feel Christ at work,” a campaign staffer told Breitbart News.
The sessions have become all the more important to participants in the midst of the pandemic and the trying times that necessitate remote meetings in the first place.
“There is nothing more meaningful than coming together in prayer,” McEnany told Breitbart, calling the studies “the most inspirational part of our week.”
“As Christian men and women, our Bible study helps us to keep our eyes and mind on Christ,” she said. “It offers a time to pray for our President and pray for our nation.”
If your local body of believers has been grounded by calls for “social distancing,” it may be worthwhile to explore the many blessings of modern technology that can allow us all to remain connected! Praise God for men and women in our nation’s leadership who aren’t about to let a global pandemic stop them from linking arms—figuratively, anyway—and looking to the only source of truth in this world: God’s Word.
