Trump Slashes Obama-Era Transgender Prisoner Policies

You might be surprised to know that President Trump, in his position as president of the United States, just had to enact a policy that assigned federal prisoners to facilities based on their biological gender.

Yes. Things really got that bad under Obama.

The media and the LGBT camp are, of course, tearing their hair out, but really, the Trump administration’s solution to the question of transgender people in federal prison is quite reasonable and far from “extremist”.

The Hill reports:

The Bureau of Prisons released a policy change to its manual, which now says that the department will use “biological sex” as the basis for assigning facilities and bathrooms.

The order strikes a provision in the manual that said officials would “recommend housing by gender identity when appropriate,” and now says that designating inmates to facilities based on their identified gender “would be appropriate only in rare cases.”

The “rare cases” in which federal prisons would consider placing someone in a prison based on their gender identity rather than biological gender would be if, according to BuzzFeed, if “there has been significant progress towards transition as demonstrated by medical and mental health history.”

It is important to keep in mind, of course, that these people are in federal prison and it’s perfectly reasonable for their “rights” to be diminished significantly when in…federal prison.

This policy change simply creates a much higher bar for what’s considered “transgender”, a move that would actually protect the other inmates as well as the transgender people in question themselves.

And of course, the consideration of the majority of other prisoners, particularly female prisoners, is the reason this policy change was considered in the first place, the Hill notes”

“The move comes after four women in a Texas prison challenged the transgender protection regulations put in place in 2012, arguing that being housed with transgender women ‘creates a situation that incessantly violates the privacy of female inmates; endangers the physical and mental health of the female Plaintiffs and others, including prison staff; [and] increases the potential for rape.'”

See, in a prison setting, it’s impossible to deny the basic physical differences between men and women. So no matter how someone chooses to “identify” as they live freely in the outside world, when you’re in prison things are a little different.

It keeps women in prisons safe to control the kind of tomfoolery Obama was allowing. But that’s right–transgenderism trumps women’s rights too, right?
