Two Drag Queen Events Canceled in Pittsburgh in Response to Public Outcry

We have been fervently working to bring attention to the inappropriateness and lewdness of Drag Queen Story Hours and to get them shut down, and it would appear that we are not alone.

Another one bites the dust, this time in Pittsburgh.

A Drag Queen Story Hour scheduled to take place at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on June 29th was canceled. Public backlash over the event was the main reason for its cancellation.

According to the library’s website, as reported by Pittsburgh Current:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, Drag Queen Story Hour will not be presented this Saturday, June 29, at CLP-Main. CLP is proud to join other libraries around the country to offer programming to families that explores diversity and encourages empathy, kindness and understanding. We look forward to resuming story hour next season.”

First of all, Drag Queen Story Hours do not encourage empathy, kindness or understanding. All they have to offer young, impressionable children are confusion, sexual abuse grooming, and the degradation of actual women. These events should not be going on at publicly-funded libraries.

But it’s not just librariesthe Pittsburgh Children’s Museum was also supposed to host an event featuring drag queen and co-founder of the Drag Queen Story Hour program, Ona Louise. This one got nixed too!

According to the museum’s Facebook event page:

“The event was cancelled [sic] due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. We are exploring the possibility of future events and will continue to offer activities focusing on identity and inclusion.”

If these events are so “inclusive,” why are they garnering widespread protest and outrage from the communities in which they are being held?

The library spokesperson, Suzanne Thinnes, claimed the events were canceled due to threats made to Drag Queen Story Hours across the country, though nothing directed specifically at either location in Pittsburgh. This seems to be a common thread between canceled drag events, although we have yet to see any evidence of actual threats made, and we would certainly condemn any threats of violence if they were made.

There was, however, a petition on a website called “Return to Order,” as well as a protest was called for by the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property. The petition had more than 15,000 signatures. Far from threatening, this is the peaceful, civil First Amendment protest of concerned community members!

On the website for the petition, they importantly note  that even pediatric doctors believe it is unhealthy for children to be exposed to confusion surrounding sexuality.

According to the American College of Pediatricians: “Conditioning children into believing that a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse.”

Hear, hear!

The Southern Poverty Law Center has interestingly labeled both the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property and the American College of Pediatrics as anti-LGBTQ hate groups, as they are wont to do with any group that deviates even slightly from the preferred far-left narrative

These groups are labeled as “hateful” simply because they hold a different opinion on the issue of drag queens reading stories to children and gender confusion. Let it be known that if you do not agree with the aggressive LGBT agenda that seeks to confuse and pervert our children’s minds, that constitutes “hate.”

So much for tolerance and inclusivity.

Good for the folks of Pittsburgh for putting enough pressure on these two institutions to get these perverse events shut down!

We have been successful in shutting down several drag queen events at public libraries, but there are many more that demand the attention of concerned citizens. Let’s tell the American Library Association to STOP Drag Queen Story Hour events! Please sign our petition, and share with your friends and family.
