UK Father Keeps Sex Robot, Samantha, Around His Wife and Kids

We are truly living in a Brave New World–and it is a very perverted one.

Arran Lee Wright is an inventor who helped create ‘Samantha,’ the eerily realistic sex robot that uses AI to “interact” with its owner.

What is particularly abhorrent about Wright, beyond the fact that he enjoys engaging in simulated fornication with a silicone doll programmed with artificial intelligence, is that he sees nothing wrong with including Samantha in his family life with his wife and two small children.

Wright and his wife, along with Samantha, shared this week on the British morning show This Morning, horrifying viewers by explaining that the doll is equipped with a “family mode” that apparently makes her safe around small children.

“She can talk about lots of things,” Wright says, of the doll that is primarily programmed to simulate sex acts. “She can talk about animals, she can talk about philosophy, she can talk about science” he continues, patting the doll’s hand lovingly.

He says that his children, who are 5 and 3, are used to seeing the doll around the house and ask “Where’s Samantha?” when she’s not around. She can normally be found sitting on the couch or even riding in the car and is like “a member of the family” according to Wright and his wife.

Warning: explicit content

We’re not really sure which is more disgusting–the fact that a sex doll hangs out with Wright’s small children in kid-friendly “family mode”, getting an early programming for such perverted uses of technology themselves–or the fact that Samantha can regularly be found in the couple’s marriage bed as well. Wright’s wife, apparently, sees nothing wrong with this.

The sex robot industry is booming, and along with it, as Wright exemplifies, some terrifying ethical realities. Many argue that sex robots can be used to “help people,” which is what Wright believes (not really sure what world problems they’re solving by pretending a sex robot is a member of their family) by giving pedophiles and aspiring rapists an outlet for their sick fantasies.

However, some experts are saying the opposite is likely true–that widely available, highly-advanced sex robots could very well encourage even more sexual perversion and deviance than we could even imagine possible.

Professor Noel Sharkey, a computer scientist, warns against the troublesome implications of producing such robots in a study he co-authored, Our Sexual Future With Robots. Sharkey also recently launched the Foundation for Responsible Robotics to keep watch over the potential dangers of sex robots.

According to Sharkey, the argument that sex robots can help people with sick sexual urges is a weak one, and that it will most likely encourage even more sexual violence.

He says this in reference to robots already on the market that have a setting that could simulate rape.

“The idea is robots would resist your sexual advances so that you could rape them,” he told Business Insider. “Some people say it’s better they rape robots than rape real people. There are other people saying this would just encourage rapists more.”

According to Sharkey, people are using this argument for something even sicker than simulating rape–fulfilling fantasies of child sex abuse. In the UK, there has been a large movement to ban child sex dolls this year.

“These are already being made and shipped from Japan by a self-confessed pedophile who says he’s never had sex with a child because he made this doll for that reason,” he says.

“People say maybe you can use these for therapy,” he continues. “Again, I can’t see it myself. I think it would encourage pedophilia and make it more acceptable to assault children.”

In his report, Sharkey cites Patrick Lin, the author of Robot Ethics: The Ethical and Social Implications of Robotics, who shares his sentiments: “Treating pedophiles with robot sex-children is both a dubious and repulsive idea. Imagine treating racism by letting a bigot abuse a brown robot. Would that work? Probably not.”

Every single day we get closer and closer to a state of complete depravity in this world, and as we find with nearly every example of the way people try to normalize abnormal sexual behavior, our children are the ultimate victims.

From Wright welcoming a sex robot into his family, setting a disgusting example for his very small children, to dolls created explicitly for pedophiles, new, terrifying standards are opening up a floodgate of immorality and sin.

Now more than ever we need to set ourselves, and our children, apart from the world and remain unspotted by it!
