Over the last few years, the political rhetoric in our nation has gotten so heated, that as Christians, it can be easy to forget that our battle is spiritual, not physical.
At the core of every raging debate of our time is a spiritual fight between good and evil, and we must choose on which side we will stand.
This means that, no matter how urgently we need to fight for the future of our country, for our children, for the sanctity of life, and for our rights as Christians, we need to remember where that battle begins and ends.
On our knees in earnest prayer.
Turning Point USA’s Young Black Leadership Summit is a very politically-charged event, one that literally laughs in the face of the left-wing notions about how young black people should behave, think, and vote.
One of the attendants was a young woman named Mahalet, a proud patriot, a devout Christian, and a supporter of the president who moved to the United States when she was 11 years old. She was one of the many young black Americans who attended the event, where President Trump delivered remarks.
She never could have imagined what happened next.
Benny Johnson told her story on Instagram, writing:
Want to literally see God in action? Meet Mahalet.
Mahalet is was born in Ethiopia. She was abandoned and orphaned by her parents and began life in abject poverty. Her entire childhood she lived in a hut and barely had anything to eat.
Life was rough for Mahalet.
At the age of 11, Mahalet was adopted by a loving, Christian American family from the Midwest. They brought her to America, taught her English and gave her a new start at life.
Mahalet became engaged with Turning Point USA because we were the only organization on campus that loved America as much as she did.
TPUSA brought Mahalet — and hundreds of other Young Black Leaders — to the White House this week to hear from their President. After Donald Trump was done speaking – Mahalet yelled from the audience “I want to pray for you Mr. President!” To her shock – Trump brought Mahalet onstage. This is the moment when a young Ethiopian girl born into extreme poverty was asked by the most powerful man in the world to pray over him. And she prayed with authority.
President Trump, in the video of her powerful prayer, grinned widely at the young woman as she prayed over him and our nation after a fiery speech encouraging the young patriots to pray fervently for him and for our country to return to its godly roots.
This is the kind of passion we all need to have for our beliefs. Our nation is in the grips of experiencing exactly what happens when you turn away from God, from his morals, from the values He has instilled in us through His holy word.
What would happen if we all started praying as fervently as Mahalet?
Benny Johnson concluded:
God bless Mahalet.
God bless President Trump.
God bless America.
