Why the UK Elections Should Matter to Conservative Americans (Guest Post)

Last week, amid the historic impeachment vote in the House Judiciary Committee and the Democrats’ desperate insistence that the Trump administration was in some sort of trouble (Mitch McConnell put this notion to bed very quickly), conservatives across the Western world breathed a collective sigh of relief to learn that Boris Johnson and his Tory party were awarded a massive election victory over in the United Kingdom.

Boris Johnson and his Tories’ major win is so significant, and bodes so well for our own upcoming 2020 general election, that it drowned out the perceived blow to conservatism that the House Democrats just dealt.

Now, you may not quite understand how these parliamentary elections work (I don’t know much more than what I’ve seen on Victoria), and you may also not understand exactly why you should care.

In 1776, we stood up to tyranny against the British crown, but now, in 2019 and 2020, we must stand up to tyranny against the globalist progressive forces that are infiltrating the culture and government of the entire Western world. This is a stand we are taking alongside the conservatives of the UK with whom we must celebrate this key political victory.

If you are a regular reader of Activist Mommy, you’ve no doubt been following the quickly shifting tides of British culture that so resemble what Elizabeth fights against every single day. In the UK, the way issues like transgenderism, Christianity, political correctness, and multiculturalism are treated have given us an Orwellian taste of what our own progressive leftists would love to see happen on American soil.

The Labour party of Jeremy Corbyn that Johnson defeated is enthusiastically supported by the likes of our own far-left Marxists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

These socialists, both here and abroad, represent the vision of the global elite and enjoy the glowing coverage of much of the mainstream media complex, both at here and across the pond. They are against Brexit, in favor of open borders, social welfare, the destruction of the family unit, global abortion access, pornographic sex-ed programs, the LGBT agenda, and of course, repressive “green” policies.

We are told that they are the future of the planet, and we the aging conservatives who just can’t “tolerate” their glorious vision and need to be defeated.

Only…they can’t defeat us. Their plan isn’t working. As Breitbart London’s James Dellingpole, writing on the day after the election, noted, “today is like the morning in June 2016 after the Brexit referendum result came in, and the day in November 2016 when Trump got elected: all the worst people in the world were really, really, really unhappy; while the rest of us couldn’t be more pleased or relieved.”

“So Britain doesn’t, after all, want to be run by an antisemitic, terrorist-supporting Marxist and his gang of nasty, aggressive, intolerant, historically illiterate Social Justice Warriors who think the only problem with Communism is that it hasn’t been tried properly yet…
Who would have thought, eh?” he also wrote.

Sure enough, like clockwork, Antifa was out on the streets of London, causing havoc and ironically chanting “this is what Democracy looks like” while clearly indicating they were unwilling to accept the results of a Democratic election.

Just like the Democrats in Washington DC who refuse to accept the results of an election are trying to punish Trump for winning in 2016 while trying (most likely in vain) to prevent his (most likely inevitable) re-election in 2020.

This, my friends, is what Democracy looks like.

Britain’s victory is our victory. It is a victory against the progressive, humanist agenda that seeks to influence and infiltrate our lives on every level, from the classroom to the polling booth to the floors of the US Congress and the UK Parliament.

Neither Trump nor Johnson is a glowing example of virtue and righteousness, and neither has an impeccable conservative record, either. There are sure to be reasons that both will attract the criticism of conservative supporters who have a duty to hold them accountable.
But they both represent something that is rising up in the hearts and minds of the American and the British people. Both England and the United States have been on the forefront of the modern human struggle for liberty, and as liberty faces down new and terrifying threats, this spirit is raging more than ever.
