Young Boy Who Survived Church Shooting Wants Christmas Cards, Here’s How You Can Help

Last month, as people were gathering to worship at a small church in Texas, a man entered the building and opened fire, killing 26 people including the mother and sisters of five-year-old Ryland Ward who is still recovering in the hospital from his injuries.

Ward was shot five times and is expected to remain in the hospital for another six to eight weeks, which is a pretty lengthy hospital stay. This means he’ll likely be spending Christmas there too.

According to citizen journalist Kelli Mitchell, this precious boy still has no idea his mom and sisters died in the shooting, which is enough to make your heart rip in two.

However, this amazing and sweet young man has a Christmas wish that you can help make a reality.

Ward’s family is asking people to send Christmas cards to help make his hospital room feel more festive and to lift his spirits, saying he really likes to receive pictures of other kids and their pets.

The family is asking that each card come with a $1 bill to help raise funds to get Ryland a go-kart for Christmas.

If you’d like to brighten this wonderful young man’s day, you can send a card to the following address:

Ryland Ward
P.O. Box 174
Sutherland Springs, Texas, 78161

Please be sure to keep praying for Ryland’s recovery and for the difficult emotional journey ahead for him and his family.
