YouTube Demands Words of Pediatrician Speaking to the Dangers of Medical Transitions Be Censored

Since the election of Donald Trump, Big Tech has been routinely shutting down and silencing Christians and conservatives. No matter how much they feign objectivity, it is clear that they’ve gone censor-happy as the 2020 election draws near.

But their aim is not just to shut down political views that threaten to give Republicans an edge. It’s cultural views that challenge everything the progressive left demands we agree with.

So challenging the notion that the best treatment for gender-confused children is harmful medical “transitions” is anathema to these people.

Their latest victim is pediatrician Dr. Michelle Cretella who speaks out about the dangers of these “transitions.”

The Christian Post reports:

A 2017 video from the Daily Signal, a conservative outlet, featuring Dr. Michelle Cretella of the American College of Pediatricians speaking against medical practices that confuse children about their biological sex was recently removed from the video streaming platform.

During the video, Cretella elaborates the approaches to treating gender confusion within much of medicine, pointing out the difference between body integrity disorder and gender dysphoria.

“See, if you want to cut off a leg or an arm, you’re mentally ill, but if you want to cut off healthy breasts or a penis, you’re transgender,” she quips in the video.

Those were the words that violated YouTube’s policy on “hate speech,” the Daily Signal learned, and the only way the video could be allowed back on the platform was to strike that sentence.

It’s truly unbelievable that YouTube believes they have the right to censor what a medical professional is saying concerning her area of expertise because it goes against the mainstream cultural norm.

“In other words, we had two choices: censor the doctor’s words or have no video on the world’s biggest video platform,” the Daily Signal pointed out Tuesday. They opted for the former, but not without making sure the world knew what YouTube had done.

“We are especially disappointed with YouTube’s decision because other social media platforms have allowed the video on their platforms. In fact, the video has more than 70 million views on Facebook. It might have even more if Facebook hadn’t temporarily removed it in July 2018. After our appeal to Facebook, it was quickly restored and remains on The Daily Signal’s page today.”

Dr. Cretella emailed The Christian Post explaining that YouTube’s demands for censorship have actually helped the video circulate again and that their own actions have exposed the truth about Big Tech and the science and medical professions and their political motivations.

“I want to thank YouTube for revealing once and for all that this video was not censored for containing ‘hate speech,’ but rather for a sentence that demonstrated how politicized our medical and psychological associations have become,” Cretella asserted, adding, “Moreover, if I hadn’t been unjustly censored, we would not have had an excuse to upgrade the original video and relaunch it for more to see.”

This is a very interesting twist. In a time when people need to be aware of the dangers of medical transitioning, YouTube has inadvertently helped get that message out.

As The Daily Signal concluded,  “censoring a medical doctor doesn’t put YouTube on the right side of history. It just shows that it’s a big tech company prioritizing the preferences of the activist left over free speech for all.”
